Maryland plays to the level of its opponents. Up 16 earlier they’ve given up a 15-0 run to IU and now down 9 at home. Headed toward locking up the 13-seed in BTT.

Who wants to speculate on the excuses Willard will have for his post-game interview for this one?
Harris-Smith and Kaiser are freshman, I believe. They’ll be solid. I’m just baffled by Scott and Reese.

Jahmir Young has been huge over 2 seasons for MD. Sad to see him go out this way at home. Have watched Donta Scott since he was a frosh. Sad to see him leave this way, too. Liked both of those guys as long as we weren't playing them.

Willard has a lot to do in the off-season.

I personally wish both teams could lose this game. But Maryland has caused a lot more pain than UI the last few seasons. Young can kick rocks on his way out

How much will Terps drop on the net? I really hope they don’t turn back to the Q3 loss and we keep the Q1. Could make a difference on our ultimate seed line.

Yeah, I know we don't hold any affection for Maryland...but this matters more right now. ^

Not picking on Kansas, they were 0-2 this week, 3-4 for there last 7, and tied for 4th place in the Big 12. How can they be in the top 10 ahead ofWhen I look at the top 25, I don't see how they aren't dropped at least 7 spots. Sorry if this has already been discussed. I don't really care where the lllini are ranked. I have read enough stuff from some of these pollsters (huge percentage of sports writers that don't know anything), but prepare yourself for Illinois to be ranked 14 tomorrow. They won't drop Kansas as much as they should, they won't penalize Auburn for losing at TN, and they will jump Baylor over us.

How warm is Willard seat? Maryland I believe was ranked or had votes in some preseason polls.

Not even lukewarm. This still isn't his team and it seems to me he lost them during February.

By sheer good luck via a friend, I sat courtside at Northwestern-MD on Wednesday near the MD bench. The body language between Donta Scott and Willard and Reese with Willard was terrible. Young was clearly frustrated. Reese in particular seems a malignant influence on the team. Reese outright didn't listen to Willard and makes obvious low-BB-IQ mistakes that Willard has no doubt been on him about. You can tell that Harris-Smith and Kaiser, who both are frosh, and Traore, who's a soph, will probably develop well under Willard. He needs big portal help in the off-season because he loses a lot of upperclassmen. But Willard's easily got at least two more seasons before he's in trouble. Turge quitting in December really hurt recruiting because Danny Manning as acting coach was clearly a lame duck.

All that said, I'll enjoy seeing them wallow in mediocrity for a while because their fans are so awful.

I don't know if this group "not being his team" is a good or bad thing for Willard. Obviously getting Young through the portal was a great find but he's essentially only brought in one player who looks anything like a high major contributor in his first two years, which is not great.

His seat should not be hot yet, but next year is huge for him especially since his top two guys are gone and it wouldn't be a surprise to see Reese leave either.

I’ve been telling anyone who will listen this year that Kansas is overrated. The Houston and UConn home wins are keeping them afloat, and they are great wins no doubt. I just don’t think they have the juice without the field house behind them
