After this series they play the following:
3 vs. Yankees
3 vs. Rays
3 @ Royals
3 vs. Angels
3 vs. Cubs
4 @ Angels

That's a tough 19 game stretch.

After some relief, they've still got the following looming.
3 @ Royals
4 @ Yankees
3 vs. Royals

That's 29 of the remaining 64 games. That's not too bad if we can win 15/29. But that's tough and would also necessitate cleaning up on the Detroit, Cleveland, Minnesota, Oakland, Boston, and Seattle.

In the end, I'd still buy if it's a guy who can help us next year. Could we get someone who can play 3B for Montas (who I don't believe in) and Micah (who I also don't believe in)? Saladino has performed well, but I don't see that lasting long term. I'd love to see him as more of a super-utility man.

Pretty sure this isn't what you saying, but the Tigers have a owner as old as dirt who wants a world series before he dies. His chips have been all in for a long time with zero regard for long term. I hope the sox don't make a decision on what the Tigers are doing.

That said, this time around I am ok with what ever Hahn does. Trade Samardzija if the return is right. Hold on to him if the offers are not as good as the value of the compensation pick. This time last year Kansas City had the same record as we do now, was 4.5 back in the wild card and had the same number of team ahead of them. The first half of this season sucked all the fun out of baseball for me. And with them now showing signs of life, if they can make it interesting and Hahn doesn't have to turn down a great prospect for it. I so lets do it.

Would have loved to have gotten a guy like Zobrist (IL native as well) who could have played any of the infield positions depending on which young guys are/are not stepping up. Probably could teach those young guys a thing or two about the game as well.

We are up by 6 with three innings to go. Not completely over, but well on our way to 7 wins in a row...all on the road! We are doing what we needed to do to get back in the race, beating up on the bad teams. TB already lost today so assuming we win, we will be tied with them in the race for WC2. The Twinkies also lost their 4th in a row today. Toronto is beating up on Philly as we speak, so they will likely be ahead of us by half a game after tonight. The only other team ahead of us in the race is Baltimore, who is up 2 in the 9th. I really hope I don't jinx us, but we are looking to be 2.5 games out of the 2nd wild card after tonight, with only 3 teams ahead of us, and tied with TB.

Don't stop now boys!

On a side note. I stream the games on my computer, this series has been the Boston announcers. You guys who don't like Hawk, try listening to Jerry Remy for 4 games...:hand:

Nice night at the ballpark last night. Decent crowd and Sox played well. Melky's on fire right now. Dank's pitched great, but made me anxious when he started walking a few guys.

Yeah, was like 34K+ in attendence. Like Adam Eaton said about Melky, don't touch him, you'll burn yourself! Know what you mean about Danks, but damn, he made Elsbury and Texiera look kinda stupid on a couple swings!:thumb:

good. Sat night game with Yanks in town, I would expect nothing less.
Im going Tuesday night. my youngest boy turns 21 Monday night, and a an acquaintance of mine came thru with 4 tix in the scout section, two rows above that guy with the yellow M&Ms jacket you always see on TV.
We've sat in these seats about 4-5 times before over the years. nice way to experience a game.

fyi, I went to the Cubs-Rockies 1pm game this past Wed aft.

besides winning 94 games a year, what else must the Sox do to draw 25,000 a game?

Avi's reportedly changed his approach at the plate to emphasize keeping his weight on the back leg and using his hands more. A measure to increase his power. He has two homers in two games after not having one since..shoot..June?

This team is driving me crazy this year. Don't even get me started on the deadline. Good thing I was danned during a period of time that included July 31.
