Great to see Smards pitch another solid game in probably his last start as a south sider. Some excellent D behind him sure helped!

The streams I was stuck with only had the Royals announcing team. Ryan Lefebvre and Rex Hudler. IMO, a couple of azzhats. Their comments about Abreu were downright insulting, if you ask me. "I don't know if I would've spent that kind of money on him..." "Well, he may be the second player (along with Albert) to hit 30 and 100, but he wasn't really a rookie last year..." "He was a professional baseball player in Cuba, whereas Albert came up through the minors..." What, our minor league players aren't professional baseball players?

Their comments on the Sox D being "atrocious" was uncalled for, from a professional standpoint. Bad at times? Yes. Gotten considerably better over the course of the season? Yes. But atrocious start to finish? I don't think so. And no mention of the fact the Sox are 7th in the majors in turning DPs, as opposed to the Royals being 18th...

Hudler is the worst - and not even laughably bad like Hawk. Just bad.

That being said, the Sox have the worst defense in baseball by more than a handful of measures.

Who are you guys pulling for in the postseason?

Part of me wants to see Buehrle get another ring. But another part of me is still bitter about 1993. Ultimately, I'll get over it and pull for the Jays. Although, should the Angels sneak in, I would like to see the best player in baseball advance to a big situation.

In the NL, I've enjoyed watching McCutchen since he came up, so I'll be pulling for the Pirates. However, going against Arrietta in a one game spot is pretty rough. I expect them to be one and done.

As for who will advance in the postseason, I can make an argument for just about every team. I'm more excited for the potential match ups this year than I have been in a couple of years.

Should probably get a new rendering while they're at it. Not sure an action shot of Conor Gillespie connotes much excitement. :D

This is exactly how I feel, and probably the only scenario where I pay attention to the post season. Ive gotten a chance to see Trout in person a handful of times here out west, and he is the most exciting player in my lifetime. There's something he does every game that takes your breath away.

Also, anybody (ANYBODY) but the Cubs, now and forever.

I'd cheer for the Cubs over the Royals. I hate the Royals. Hate, hate, hate. A hate that I thought I could have only for IU basketball.

Trout is certainly exciting. The excitement he generates reminds me to Griffey Jr. in the early 90s. Trout is more polished, but man was Griffey exciting. And while Trout is better at the plate, Griffey had him in the OF.

Not so fast

He's pretty much exactly how I imagine Mantle was.

I've tried watching other ball teams this year...call me insane, but the interest just ain't there. It's the Sox or I'm movin' on, football and hoops seasons, y'now.

But....no Cubbies, and NO ROYALS!!! Prolly Buccos and the Jays, Jays taking it all...

Obviously, that was a superb play. But defensively, Griffey was able to make plays look easy that other defenders couldn't even dream of having any play on. Don't get me wrong, Trout is very good defensively. But he's not Griffey IMO.

Yeah, probably not worth arguing. They're both generational talents. I was just looking for a reason to post that video. :D

Back to the postseason. I'm officially on the Jays bandwagon. Read today that Buerhle's nickname in Toronto is "Papa Buehrle" which is awesome. My all time favorite player to wear the uniform.

Where's the 'like" button? Bailey, you do realize you and Hawk actually agree on something...;)

Brutal season. 1 more year of Robin to go. I hope we start listening when the phone rings on Quintana (like we should have been 3 months ago).

Not quite sure how I feel about this off season and what to do for next. The optimist in me says that Eaton and Melky can't be that bad at the same time to start a year again and tank us from the start. And Carlos Rodon in his second year can be great. But then I think about every spot in the infield besides Abreu at first and wonder what we are going to do.

After KW's latest comments. They are either adding to payroll, or going rebuild.

Man...this is getting frustrating. Just saw the Shelby Miller haul. Jose Quintana is better than Shelby Miller.

Todd Frazier for Montas, Micah Johnson, and Trayce. To steal from the recruiting thread, We have our 3rd Baseman

Really hope we're in on one of these free agent outfielders though. Prayers up for Justin Upton.

Oh man. That would be awesome. I haven't followed the hot stove too closely, but is the plan Saladino at SS?

Looks like it. Hahns alluded to as much multiple times. The only way it was feasible was if we upgraded the offense at multiple positions. So far so good.
