I don't see how the Illini can win in the Big 10 when the starting lineup consists of four guards and one forward. Somehow, the Illini need to recruit some size in the future to be competitive.

They did.. they're all injured. See Thorne, Black, Paul.

Awesome post and summary!

I'm excited for McKinley Wright based on your assessment. I like how he plays with heart and is PG. I think we need more depth there and he seems to be a great fit to help balance out the line-up. I'm hoping your assessment of 25% is wrong and that we actually have a higher chance at him.

Wasn't there some question as to whether or not he will play up? Boy, I sure hope so.

I think he will, but doubt if it's been determined yet. Assuming his brother continues flourishing and a strong '17 class, we should be in VG shape with him (doesn't mean he's a lock though).

The talent difference in C.Winston(MSU commit) and TJL is not as big of a gap as the rankings would have you believe. Should be interesting to see how TJL stacks up agianst Winston, Carr, Cowan, and Simpson over the next few years in the Big 10. I think we got a really good player and a great kid.

I believe that he runs with the Jets, which is the same AAU organization that Malcolm played for.

He did play for the jets last year. Hope he stays with them again. Jets under 16 is loaded. Probably best under 16 in country. Destroyed fire last year at u15 level and won the national aau's. Doubt these 16's play up with pickett. Saw picket Tuesday against alton and he was not overly impressive.

True, but we also need to start lining up some replacements since Paul is gone and Thorne will be soon. Morgan's a SR next season, too.

I don't have the energy at age 60 to wade through the recruiting thread ;) -- does anyone know if we're in on any 2016 HS bigs? Please tell me yes :). We really, really need quality young bigs besides MF.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could land all of the players on that Eagles squad (Tillmon, Goodwin, Verge and Finke).
Do we know if Verge is going to continue to play with the Eagles now that he's in Florida?

We're trying to get back in with Rakocevic who apparently has a better attitude and is playing really well. And a 6'10" Aussie kid is visiting this month.

Harry Froling, visiting actually this weekend (Sunday-Monday). Froling is taking consecutive visits so he will complete all his visits by next week. So probably a decision will follow shortly.

Blast from the past: Dylan Ennis broke his foot at Oregon and is out for the rest of the season, which proves he would have fit in perfectly at Illinois.

Thx. Saw Rakocevic play for STJ last season in St. Charles. Great skills for a big, beautiful shooting form for a big, looked like a true stretch 4, but selfish, lazy attitude and low motor. Good to hear his attitude is improving. He and MF together in a couple of years could be a nice tandem offensively.

It would not be surprising to see the staff start going after bigs like we did point guards over the last couple years and setup a visit for Rako in the near future.

We've still got all the de-commits once the coaching changes take place and then of course the 5th year guys.
