I hate this. A decision just needs to be made soon because I need to stop obsessing over this. Every damn time I get drawn back in.

Always funny to see all these 'insiders' come out during these times. Calm down everyone. Things look good, but this one is not over yet.

As usual he insiders will multiply around this time however there are a few I trust enough to be optimistic about. But agree, it's a great position to be in but also not a done deal until he announces (and even then we'll all have ptsd)

I can confirm. Tilmon is Illini bound baby! Not sure when it goes public but you guys don't need to worry about a hat trick or nut punch on this one. He is ours, and you guys don't need to worry a bit.

Will continue to worry.........Reference: Q. Snider

Pump the brakes, everyone. UK is showing interest.

They've been showing interest for a while. The visits were more about visiting Bowen though. Kentucky will have more highly rated centers as their priority and they probably won't commit for a while.

His ceiling may not be very high, but IMO he's a 4 year glue guy who will play his !!! off. Maybe like a Kalin Lucas. He plays wise beyond his years which hopefully means he has leadership traits as well.

He's only a freshman playing big minutes on a national title contender. He has big upside, I'd say.

Finally, some sensibility. No, I can't stop, I am getting sucked back in...

Well, at least dan should be getting plenty of traffic for a couple weeks either way...

Disagree on his ceiling not being high. If he grows a couple inches and gains some muscle which seems likely hes only a FR he is going to be a monster. He's already a 5 Star talent IMO. His ball handling is amazing, quickness, court vision he has it all.

This is a fair assessment so far. My observations:

-Needs to be more aware when rolling to the hoop. Three times have passes from the guard surprised him and led to turnovers.
-Fades away from rim on post moves too often. Probably will get better with strength.
-Footwork is outstanding for his age. Good place to start there.
-Hands have been good in rebounding, not so much catching passes or dribbling in my opinion.
-His face-up game is probably his best offensive asset right now.
-Not a strong shot blocker like some other bigs in this game.
-Tilmon would be a nice piece and a certainly better talent than Illini have brought in recently. He's got a lot to work on, but his floor as a junior in high school is really good. The potential is there.

I noticed these things too. Rolling to the hoop, most of those passes were pretty bad. The hands comment is spot on (good in rebounding, but not the best catching or dribbling). Not a strong shot blocker - didn't look to block many shots.

Two questions:
1) does anyone have the quiet/eval/whatever period schedule?
2) how often do kids commit during quiet periods? (If that's what we're in now)

I'll believe it when he plays his first game. This is what the hits have done!

So does that mean that teams can not be in contact with recruits at all today through April 7th? Maybe that's a good thing if Illinois is truly in the lead.

He is not precluded from announcing his decision during the dead period?

no. coaches can still contact recruits electronically or written (call, text, DM). They cannot meet them in person.

A recruit could announce his commitment during this time, but most high-profile recruits want a presser in his HS gym or want to commit on the campus they're committing to. Since a coach couldn't attend a press conference, and he can't see him on campus, most recruits don't commit during a dead period.

If Eric Gordon and Quentin Snider haven't taught Illini fans that.. I'm not sure we'll ever learn.
If Tilmon had a change of heart and changed schools, it would hurt the same amount weather you bought the hype now or were guarded.
