However, Jerry Meyer wouldn't change his crystal ball based off of nothing.

He would. Don't get me wrong, he's getting as good of info as anybody, but I recall a few times he's rationalized a CB pick based on gut.

Definitely worth taking with a grain of salt. But considering Flood changed his pick to Illinois just a few days ago as well, maybe it's no coincidence? Idk.

Sounds like he has a great relationship with the coaching staff. But it will be tough to lock him up with 2 PG's already committed.

Who would that be? I assume damonte is one.

Also, pretty shocked they are on PS's list. Thought that boat sailed a while ago. That being said that list is a veritable who's who of schools in the region.

Damonte is more of a combo and you could sell him with playing with DaMonte and TeJon. Groce seems like a trustworthy guy who tells guys they will earn their playing time. This way, no one is lead on.

Scruggs would be a coup.

The thought is crazy that Frazier might not commit due to illini having too many pgs... my how the tables have turned. I'm looking forward to the future! Very interested in who commits next

Lets pump the breaks a touch. I'm also excited for the future, and specifically this 2017 class. But we've seen this narrative before: "Will there be enough minutes for Brunson alongside Evans in the backcourt?" If Frazier doesn't come here, I highly doubt it will be because a 3-star sophomore coming off injury and a combo-guard in his class are scaring him off.

Potential Rivals150 guard Jarrett Culver's recruitment has reached high major level https://basketballrecruiting.n.rivals.com/news/culver-rising-in-texas

Culver is an intriguing prospect because he handles the ball well enough to play some point guard. He slashes from the wing, he can defend multiple positions and he has a great frame to add muscle onto.

Though he can play some point guard, we see him as more of a utility guard who can play at the one, two or three.

At least this time its because of players that already committed not just wishful thinking.

This is nothing like the "Brunson and Evans" fantasy talk. We already have 2 PG's. Will that be the only reason Frazier wouldn't come here? Of course not, but it's definitely a factor. It's Groce's job to try and convince him that he fits perfectly into the team. But I'm guessing there are other coaches saying "Hey, we are desperate for a PG you can come start from day 1". I think it will be tough to get another PG in '17 because of this.

Well that never worked for us, why would it work for some other team? ;)

Top 10 recruiting battles for 2017 basketball prospects
Eric Bossi | National Analyst

Jeremiah Tilmon Center
The battle: Illinois vs. the bluebloods.

Bossi’s take: We hesitate to ever call a prospect a must-get for any program, but when it comes to the Illini and Tilmon, it gets pretty close to that level. Tilmon is from Illinois, the Illini have held a strong position for a while and he’s probably most needed by the Illini on the floor. Jon Groce and his staff are looking to get things headed in the right direction and beating out programs like Kansas, Michigan State and North Carolina for Tilmon would be a huge step.

9th Grader Kahlil Whitney Looking To Be Chicago’s Next Breakout Star!
Published on May 23rd, 2016 by Scott Comeau | 1,924 views

Chicago has produced a ton of talented players in the past. Scouts, coaches, fans and more are always looking for the Next Big Thing. 6’6 9th grader (age 14 during freshman season) Kahlil Whitney wants to be THAT guy. Playing at Solorio Academy, a relatively new, small public high school with no basketball tradition on the city’s Southwest Side, Whitney might’ve slipped under some peoples’ radar. Ballislife was there from the start. In Whitney’s first career Chicago high school game, he scored 35 points in the first half (vs Morgan Park Academy).

ILL in IA

Took about 17 seconds in and when he points at the camera after the dunk, I thought, "well he's not going to Illinois."

I'm normally not the negative guy who rules players out on my gut, but that was my first thought.

Plenty of time to see how it will play out.

Said it already, but it's sounding like Frazier just might commit. We need some post players, but Frazier's got game. 6'2" lefty with handles and some really smooth athleticism. Seems to have excellent court vision. Can drain 3's too. I'd be excited to land him.
