I really don't want to get my hopes up. I know the second I do, I am going to get kicked in the nuts.

Again, this isn't a nut-kicking moment for the o&b or the fanbase. This would be icing on an already delicious cake. Doesn't qualify.....

I miss Loyalty After Dark so much. Even though it was complete ridiculousness, I consider that to be peak Loyalty.
This 👆. Brooks, Lincoln and the rest are missed.

It is just unfortunate that some people had to be the fun police any time someone's prediction was wrong.

Any new developments with Kigab or is it that obvious that he's gonna pick Oregon tomorrow?

I actually enjoy reading both Indy Orange and your post.

While both opinions are based on pure speculation your passion is appreciated and respected.

Does John Groce have another surprise for Illinois with this recruiting class ?

I would say absolutely he does.:illinois:

If so, it could be called an October surprise for the Illini basketball team. :thumb:

As of now everyone is saying Oregon that may be in the know. I haven't seen anyone that thinks its going to be Illinois.

This is the time where one can rely on the crystal ball predictions with a high level of confidence. There have been very few times where a commitment was imminent and the general crystal ball consensus was wrong. As it stands now, 9/9 predictions are for Oregon.

Sound argument, and would seem likely. But if he really hasn't decided, the most important thing is to get it right. I guess all I'm saying is it wouldn't shock me if he still wasn't decided in time to make a decision at HH. I think he knows it gets awkward if that happens, so I'd place my bet that it's settled sooner than that, but if he decides he needs more time, I'm sure he'll take it.

^This.^

If Wilkes knows where he is going, then Obelix is right. He announces before HH and if it's IU then he celebrates at HH. Of course if it's for UCLA or UI then he doesn't go to HH. But if Wilkes doesn't know yet then I bet he goes to HH, hosts some more in home visits, and maybe waits until signing day.

Speaking of in-homes, were we the only school to visit Wilkes after the OV?

Will it be seafoam green bridesmaid dress or pure white wedding dress?

I still think he decides before HH, but in the unlikely case that he does not decide before Oct. 22, I can't see him attending HH.

This.

I think it's pretty obvious he is torn and I honestly think IU is 3rd at this point.

The pressure of the "home state school" may eventually win him over but if he was "blown away" by IU he'd be going there.

Reading a lot of his quotes from his visits reminded me of kids talking about Illinois being the "state school" and "familiarity" just to not come here. Essentially we were getting token interest.

I think it's pretty obvious Indiana is not where he wants to go. I think he's holding off his announcement as long as possible to get to signing day to not deal with the backlash of going there.

Don't be surprised to see him where an IU jersey the day before he announces...

Which 2019 and 2020 prospects stood out at USA Basketball?

James Wiseman

Our last viewing of James Wiseman came at the state championship game of freshman season. Since then Wiseman, who was measured at 6-foot-10 and with a 7-4 1/2 wingspan, has developed nicely as a prospect. Wiseman’s length was a factor at camp, as he was able to affect shot attempts. Wiseman also displayed good athleticism and mobility. Offensively, he’s still developing, but his ability to run the floor allowed him to get easy scoring opportunities. Wiseman hunted mid-range jump shots, and although he didn’t connect at a high clip, he does appear capable of making that shot.

Recruiting: Wiseman holds offers from Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Tennessee, Texas and Vanderbilt.

Illinois shouldn’t be counted out as Wilkes narrows his list to three

This is great news for Illinois. Early in the recruiting process for Wilkes, Illinois was never a serious candidate. Scouts have always had the Indianapolis native leaning toward UCLA or Indiana. For Wilkes to include Illinois in his top-three means there was something that caught his attention.

I think Illinois is clear from the Jalen Brunson effect for now. The Brunson effect occurred when the highly sought after guard from Lincolnshire, Illinois cancelled all of his remaining official visits after trips to Illinois and Villanova, eventually committing to the Wildcats.

If Wilkes had his mind set on a school, he would have announced his decision to cancel his remaining visits earlier. I also don’t think he would include Illinois in his final list. Instead, I believe he would narrow it down to his top-two choices right away.

Sounds to me like the young man who wrote that article has been drinking too much of the orange Kool-Aid that we've been pouring on this board. Lol. I love the optimism though!

IMO, this is a bit different, there isn't a rush on CBs, at least yet, from news leaking. Virtually nothing is happening on CBs, only one person has jumped on Oregon this month, which isn't surprising with an announcement coming. I think the CBs are more of a reflection on how quiet this recruitment is.
