JT dint sign because he can not get in to UofI and odds are good he will not be able to. So till that gets cleared up it kind of is pointless, hopefully this will help us sell mins with Kiir and get him signed, then JT gets his stuff taken care of and commits in the spring

What's really happening is that Groce is telling JT to not sign so that rumors will spread about him decommitting. With the rumor, Kiir will likely favor Illinois. Once Kiir signs with Illinois, JT will sign his but it'll be too late for Kiir to change his mind. It's ingenious really.

One thing to watch is whether or not the staff start scouting/offering 2/3 star centers all of a sudden. If that happens, it's 100% over. I'm guessing if we miss on Tilmon that the Juco/ transfer route is the next viable option.

I wouldn't be so sure, we recently offered Wooten, we are currently sitting on 2 open schollies in 2017, we should still be recruiting for those no matter what happens with Tilmon.

Bring back Austin Colbert, please!!

Frazier has signed his. I swore that he would have it signed and faxed in by midnight. He literally has done nothing but scream Illini the entire time. Maybe Florida had all the phone lines tied up till now

I disagree. We have several open scholarships and a large need for large basketball players. We have no guarantees with Kiir. Scouting and offering 2/3 star players starting now just means Groce is hedging his bet. Such players wouldn't sign until after Tilmon's status is more clear closer to the late signing period anyway, so you can certainly recruit those kids just in case and still be optimistic that Tilmon is still on board.

Have not seen this posted yet, but some interesting quotes from Goodwin on Tilmon in the Belleview newspaper:

“I talked to him a little bit,” Goodwin said of Tilmon. “He didn’t tell me much about it. I just told him if he’s thinking about it, do whatever you’ve got to do to make you happy. Make sure it’s the decision you wanted.

“He probably felt pressure to sign, he probably felt pressure to commit to Illinois at the time. But I just told him do what I did, take your time, go with whoever you trust. It’s all about trust.”

That's nice of Goodwin to say because the trust thing will point him to Groce as that is the reason JT and his mother committed in the first place.

I think his big fear is Groce being on the hot seat. I think he is scared Groce could be fired, or else he would be signing today.

I heard Chastain grew 4 inches, put on 30 pounds of muscle, has a 40 inch vertical and NBA range. Is it too late to get him down to Chambana?!!! Maybe he's waiting for Patterson to sign!

Oh definitely. This is a big decision. You can't base it off of stupid things like choosing the school whose atrocious mascot chases you in a dream.

Let's win some ball games so Tilmon knows Groce's job is safe and then maybe he'll sign then.
