The only crystal ball movement we have seen since the time was set was to SLU. By our own experience, if a date/time is set for a decision, the crystal balls get more accurate. However, they are not 100% accurate. I hope this is one of those times the movement is wrong.

Tilmon has said at one point that SLU wasn't involved. For the sake of integrity and having character, I truly hope SLU isn't the one...even if he goes to a different school. Just please don't let it be SLU.

T minus 5 hours.

Can someone translate what those emojis are? They are only showing up as boxes for me. Thanks!

It looks like he sent out two tweets at close to the same time late last night. I see the boxes on one, but the other it looks like a frowny face. Does that mean he's bummed his buddy isn't coming to play with him because he's going to be donning the orange and blue? I sure hope so! :)

Oh God what have I done. So many bad memories being drug up from the depths. Memories I had pushed waaaay down under long ago and thought were blocked forever. :(

I was at the Miami game in the tournament a couple years ago. Eye level with the ball going off the Miami player. :tsk:

First tweet shows what looks like an angry emoji.

Newer/latest tweet shows both a crying emoji and the peace sign

Goodwin seems like he has a real axe he suddenly started grinding against Illinois for some reason. What's his deal?

Meh... I think Illini fans have more of an axe to grind with Goodwin than vice versa. Goodwin went from the model recruit, the endless worker, the good character player, from a good family, who was not influenced from AAU/Chicago handlers, etc. etc. to the the player who committed to SLU for shady reasons.

He is exactly the same person he was six months ago, just now committed to a different school.

Even the post you are responding to, makes a reference to "Tilmon payback on Goodwin" others about potential jealousy playing for a better conference. They are good fiends, there is no payback. Fans like to project their own animosity towards other schools to recruits and their friends. Tilmon and Goodwin are very good friends, same with multiple other recruits. Once they make their decision, playing for a different school does not end their friendship. The vast majority of recruits genuinely wish their friends good luck, and move on, yet remain friends.

I was hitting depression then you put me full boat depressed. I would love for our Cubs moment. That moment brought me to tears and wife having to console me. All those years and the second won and went to World Series I felt my gpa and lost it. Really hope for that moment with the Illini more and more

I am not disagreeing with you or with the post about oh-so-close. But if you want a Cubs moment go back and watch Arizona 2005, or at least the second half. I tear up with joy and pride every time I watch it, and its a great thing to watch when you are feeling blue without the orange.

Just seems a little odd that somebody whose committed to a college would then need a press conference saying they're going to that college.

Still holding out hope though...

It is more of a signing ceremony and it is at his HS. Plenty of recruits have held signing events at their HS. Granted, this has a little extra... but HS's giving a little publicity to their students when they sign their LOIs is not that strange.

I am guessing that WCIA would not be airing it if they didn't have a clue who he is picking.

It would be embarrassing indeed if they did not know and Tilmon picked a different school. I can understand doing it for a local CU kid, but not for an ESL recruit.

In other words, nobody but the Tilmon family has a clue. 4:08 until Hallelujah or Doomsday; Leonard Cohen or Barry McGuire.

Probably the knucklehead Illinois fans who trashed him on twitter and started the 'he got paid' meme. On other boards they'll even tell you "the amount" and how it's getting paid out. Not sure why people can't accept he wanted to stay home and play for the school he grew up supporting. And then you got Roy running around talking about NCAA investigations. I doubt JG'll be rooting for IL in anything from here on out.
And he probably was hoping JT would join him but he'll congratulate him like all the kids congratulated him when he picked SLU. Fans get a lot more insane about this stuff than the kids do. Fans seem to think we're entitled to kids we spend time recruiting but it doesn't work that way. Doesn't make them bad kids if they decide there's a different way to go.

I'm guessing the Tilmon family are good people and wouldn't do this elaborate set up to announce a different school LOI signing. I'm very optimistic.

That's great, except that game wasn't in 06... the 2006 NCAA Tournament saw Illinois lose to Washington with some very suspect officiating...

It was 2007 they lost to Va Tech, and I remember Randle flexing his muscles and then we fell apart

The UW game was one of the worst officiated games in college basketball history. UW had no business winning that game I still have the box score saved at home, the free throw disparity was 39-11, and got hacked regularly with no calls down the stretch. That game ended the careers of Dee and Auggie. I was pissed for weeks, out of my mind, and even wrote the AD of UW an email asking that he acknowledge how bad the refs were. He wrote me the nicest response all but saying it. GAH.

Let combat ourselves and start a list off the best moments.

Another is Matt Sylvester's basket from Ohio State that upset undefeated Illinois in the last regular season game of 2005. Fortunately, today will be a much better day.

I like Henricksen's take on it. I know it's not necessarily Gospel, but he does make a very well-reasoned that JT just isn't a terrible person who would be committed for months only to back out 48 hours before signing day and sign with someone else altogether.
