His idea of going to prep school isn't about ability to play right away. It is about him getting the kind of scholarship offer he wants from the school he wants. Things are happening a little late for him and he has said he would go to prep school if an option he wants doesn't develop. Maybe now that he's getting the Power 5 offers, prep school looks less desirable.

yes I know why he is saying he might go to prep, my point is that if he came here he would still be likely to rs to get stronger , something else he said he would like to do. Believe it or not Pickett and FB were both talked to about RS and neither liked the idea. BU is at least being honest with these kids even if it hurts our chances

I sometimes find it amazing, amusing and often downright arrogant how we can be as fans.

Let's be honest, do you think FB will enjoy playing in the NCAA tournament and probably for ACC championships in his four years?

We are likely NOT a tourney team next year, and at best a bubble team the following year. Hopefully, strong emphasis on the hope, Underwood has us more competitive in year three, possibly shooting for Big Ten championships after that and a true player at that. But if you are FB, why not take the more likely opportunity?

We are selling hope. Nothing wrong with that at this time, but UVA can sell results.

I couldn't disagree more. I would bet my firstborn that were a tournament team next year… OK I don't have any kids, so that was easy. BU has proven he's a turnaround artist and we were close several of the Groce years without an offensive identity. Underwoods Style play is so much better suited for FB than Virginia's. I had DVR'd the OSU - Michigan before we even hired Underwood, and it's clearly a fast-paced exciting brand of basketball, which would've been well-suited for FB, but we'll see. I think in the long run he's going to be disappointed.

Having just completed numerous college visits (from Michigan to Clemson) with my son, I would say Virginia/Charlottesville has only the following advantages over Illinois/C-U:

1. Academics
2. (Recent) quality of program
3. Coach
4. Conference (ACC>Big10)
5. Co-eds
6. Campus aesthetics -- their campus is gorgeous!

That leaves us with perhaps Style of Play. Without any allegiance to our state, FB made a pretty sound choice in my view.

Go Illini!

Plus Virginia school colors are orange and blue so he will be playing for the Orange and Blue anyway. In fact, since he was considered to be a lock for Illinois maybe he just got confused. He knew was going to play for the orange and blue and just picked the wrong school by mistake (kidding).

Although someone mentioned he was interested in music which I took to imply as in being a music major. And Illinois has a better music program than Virginia according to some ratings services.

BOOM! Feed my ego.
You get an offer and you get an offer and you get an offer!!

:D

In all seriousness, I have to believe casting a wide net will yield better results and a lot fewer silver/bronze medals than we saw from the previous staff. Actually, maybe more silver and bronze but a few more gold as well.

Pretty soon instead of listing who has offers, we can list who doesn't.....it might be a shorter list. :noidea:

I like it. They are all high quality. You don't beg anyone to come. This puts pressure on kids to take it or leave per-se.... "you are good enough to play for Illinois, but you're not special. Either take it or risk not having a spot". Smart move by the new regime

I think he may have been interested in Business based on some things I read on Twitter, so take it with a grain. Unless he wanted to major in accounting, they have us beat there, too, but not by much.

There were also mentions that he appreciated UVA's attention to detail during his recruitment, which is probably what sealed it. Not necessarily a knock on BU and co., but 0-1 in a head to head recruiting battle with TB.

Not really anything different than anyone else does. You only have so much time to recruit so we will see who BU and staff actually want as the summer goes on. They will most definitely be making some kids feel special, that I can guarantee.

Especially with all these out of state recruits. Lots of these guys will have no interest in Illinois and the staff will figure that out. But you never know when you might find that random Trent Frazier.

Depending on the major #1 could be wrong and many of those are closer than they are written out to be. You also forgot 'preppier' which should have been at the top. Campus is nice, but you have to like the 'preppier' thing... ;)
