Illini dominate the Big Ten post season awards, as expected.

Small wins yet another Coach of the Year Award. Meyer is Player of the Year, Feagles Freshman of the Year. Meyer, Hardy, Feagles and Lipparelli all make first team. Baumgarten wins Sportsmanship Award.

The dynasty continues to grow. Well done gentlemen. :shield:

As expected, Illinois will be playing close to home in the W Lafayette region. #2 seed behind Florida. Top 5 teams will advance to the finals at Rich Harvest Farms.

The Illini are taking on a very difficult course but should be among the top five with solid golf. Meyer is playing fantastic golf. The others need to follow suit.

They are very familiar with this course. If they play their game, should be advancing.

The top ranked teams in the Purdue regional according to the latest rankings:

5. Florida
8. UIUC
19. UNLV
20. Auburn
31. South Carolina
35. Colorado

South Carolina and Colorado were among those teams receiving votes but not cracking the top 25.

On a course they are very familiar with, they should advance to the National Championships.

Women's team is very young, 2 freshman and a soph in the lineup. Also I believe this is their first postseason appearance in a while, so no veterans and no real winning experience there. Still they seem to be taking some baby steps forward, would have to think the facilities would help their recruiting.

Good 2nd round for the women, looks like the 4th best round today. Moved up a few spots and gave themselves a chance tomorrow. 6 shots back from the last spot, so still work left to do.

Illinois is back in contention with a -1 in the second round. Tristyn Nowlin and Bing Singhsumalee must go lower and the rest of the team play to same level as today.

They still have a shot. I wonder if the altitude in New Mexico affected their yardage in the first round?

Very possible. I know every time I play in AZ it takes me a bit to adjust. Also playing out west can be tough if it's a desert style course, tougher to pick out target lines with a "bigger" sky and less trees.

Just signed up as a volunteer at some of the NCAA sessions at Rich Harvest Farms.
Looking forward to the experience !

I will be carrying a standard on the last day of stroke play and the quarterfinals of match play during the NCAA Men's Golf Championship. I hope to have Illini in my group and am looking forward to being inside the ropes.

You might develop a sneezing condition when Non-Illini are mid swing.

The Illini are playing some really bad golf early in the third round. It will take a near miracle to jump into the top six.

According to the golfstat site, it's very windy today:

"The final round is being played under mostly sunny skies, cool, and a strong wind or 15-20 MPH, gusting up to 30 MPH."

On another note, maybe I should see if my daughter can get a golf scholarship at Texas Southern... They are currently +175 as a team for the tourney with about 9 holes left o play. Must have been the automatic qualifier...
