Bowen will be playing for somebody not even on his most recent top-5 list, if we are to extrapolate from this wild ride of a recruitment.

EDIT: if Illinois had a stake in this, I'd actually make the image, but this is a prime opportunity to use the "Mr. Bone's Wild Ride" meme and change it to "Mr. Bowen's."
I'll guess Louisville since that was his last visit, but with Tugs, I wouldn't be surprised by any choice.

I actually think Tate had solid upside. Has a good size for PG. Can drive and defend reasonably. Also like his court vision. There are so many players with a way worse shooting mechanism but developed into ok uncontested top-of-arc 3 shooters. Tate can be serviceable B1G rotation player under other coaches.

The problem was that John Groce only knew how to use one type of PG (who can create the chance off screen by themselves). He did not know how to use PGs like Tate. Plus the previous staff had big issue in developing players. They developed ranked players into average 3 star players, and developed unrank players into playground guys. If Marcus Smart played under JG and his staff, I bet he'd been undrafted.

From all reports, Tate worked hard on his game, but it didn't really work out for him. While Groce failed overall to get it done, where player development is concerned he has gotten more criticism than he deserves. Given their ability and work ethic, most players become what they are meant to be.

This is probably opening a can of worms that shouldn't be opened but Tate was our best PG for a lot of games throughout his career here, which says more about how crappy we were at the 1 than really anything else.

If JCL or AJ or even DJ were to play at the 1 for all the minutes Tate did, we would've a few more games. Tate had above average court vision, was a better ball handler than JCL (and probably DJW and AJ but such little sample size I'll ignore them.), and was a better defender then all of them. Of course he struggled shooting, but he wasn't awful at driving to the hoop.

I refuse to believe that, as a whole, the last four years would've been better sans Jaylon Tate.

Let's squeeze him in for an unofficial at Illinois if he's just going to pick wherever he's been most recently. Give 'im the Underwood Special.

Bowen ending up at Louisville doesn't surprise me. His whole recruitment has been so strange and shady.

Always keep tabs on Chase. Didn't hear about him transferring but a lot of Catholic League kids have been transferring to Public League teams. Simeon picked up a 2019 kid, 2 transferred to Curie, including Marquis Walker from St. Joseph (had an offer from the previous staff.)and Marist's Maurice Commander, the 2017 ESC POY. Nothing surprises me about transferring, college or high school. I've also heard Morgan Park or LaLu may be where Adam Miller ends up. Nothing official, mind you, just talk.

Chase has had a great spring for Team Rose on the Adidas circuit, although this tweet is a bit bold for a kid who's still only 5-4.

The guy that was suppose to visit yesterday may have not made it and rescheduled.

Good 5th year we were previously out of the race for.

Cam Johnson, since Pitt is blocking him from ACC schools and he wants to go to UNC. So maybe he's reconsidering everything with UNC blocked.

Oh, man, if Underwood pulled that rabbit out of the hat, we would have just an embarrassment of riches in the guard position.

Just saw Bowen is set to announce on Saturday. Kathy, you know something?

Well I suppose the ultimate recruiting head fake would be to enroll in summer classes in one place and then choose a different school that was not among your list of finalists.

What sources is this coming from? I have read in Pittsburgh media that they are taking a stand on Cameron. Interesting..,.
Cameron Johnson Completes UNC Official Visit

I already knew all this, but Joel (Berry) is a very good point guard. He can shoot, score and defend. I think I got along well with him. Same with Luke and Theo also. We were all on the same team. I think it'll definitely work out well on the court if the opportunity arises to play there."

That opportunity won't come in 2017-18, however, unless Pittsburgh removes a stipulation from his release blocking him from being immediately eligible at ACC schools.

"Sitting out a year is not something I want to do and probably not something that I would do," Johnson explained. "It would kind of waste a year of my eligibility. I've been talking with Coach Williams about this and we've talked about what further steps we have to take or need to be taken."
