6'10 Tamell Pearson was dunking everything around the basket today. If he continues to do that he will move to #2 spot in the State for 2018

Last night in St. Louis. Talen show starts around 2:40. Also includes EJ (12), Okoro (23) and Hellems (21). Team Rose in white; players are THT number 5, Chase Adams (Orr) 1, Kendle Moore (Danville) 3, the two guys with numbers in the 20s are the Martin twins from Curie -- don't know which is which -- Raekwon Drake and Danny Davis -both of Orr - are numbers 15 and 10. My mistake on two of the numbers above. Number 25 on TR is Brian Hernandez (Orr), 23 is Traevon Martin (Curie). I think his brother wears number 24 - he doesn't play much for Curie and I'm not sure if he played last night. Can't remember if I saw a 24 in white briefly or not.

Really hope Okoro and Liddell have a desire to play together at the next level. Specifically at the beloved.

It's ThT and The Irvin's really. But THT essentially left Ayo as well so...

Ayo wants to be the man and get to the NBA as fast as possible. Now THT also wants to be the man wherever he decides to go. Which is why they will not go to the same college. Even if Ayo does not wind up here, I still think THT goes elsewhere.

Pearson had pretty good numbers this wknd. Definitely some potential there.

Ayo, Finke, Conditt, Pearson would be the most realistic 4 I would think right now.

Yes and he's not that level

To be clear, I'm talking from a rating perspective, landing five star recruits gets positive attention for the program.

Obviously Mark Smith was a fantastic get, but Ayo would be even bigger

Yes, if you want THT more than Ayo you absolutely are crazy. One will play in the NBA, the other will not.

I seriously doubt ayo is a one and done

I wasn't implying he was, just saying that having players with NBA talent as a freshman is nice, but there are great college players who really drove their teams and did not make the NBA.:illinois:

O of course. But getting someone like Ayo who will likely be a 3 year player would be absolutely huge in terms of turning this team around

If that's the class, I'll be underwhelmed.

You have realize, BU can only sell so much right now? The recruits have not seen what his team at ILL will play like, and how they will do. He has no statistics to back up what he is selling besides previous coaching gigs and statistics from those. He wins and plays fast that's really all they know, after this year kids will be able to see how their game could fit within the system, and if he wins like I think he will. The sell will become much easier.

Besides you can't be underwhelmed, Groce didn't reel in a 5* prospect in his entire tenure, and BU could do it in his first few months on the job.:shield:

Well said. BU also has not landed a 5 star recruit before and has coached one season at a P5 school. I am as big a BU fan as there is, but that's how non Illini homers see him: potentially a good coach, but fairly unproven at the P5 level.

If he lands a 4 player class with a 5 star, a 4 star, and two system bigs that will be fantastic.

You misunderstand. I'd love to land Ayo. He'd be a massive recruit (that said, I'm not convinced he'll be more of an impact player than Smith). I'd love to land Conditt, and I think we will. That recent AAU game against Castleton made me a true believer. My underwhelmed comes from Finke and Pearson. We can and should do better.

Agreed. Pearson though would most likely be to add Ayo, and if that's the case I think almost all of us would agree to take him. Finke is where the underwhelming option would come from. We are after several small forwards and right now Finke is around 4th or 5th on the list for most people.

I see what you're saying now. My bad. I totally agree, but the people who we all would want ahead of Finke are going elsewhere, and taking a top 100 kid isn't a bad option?

By the people ahead I am meaning THT, Hellems, and Stewart specifically.

The only way we should take Pearson is if Ayo won't commit otherwise. And that's pretty hinky, if that's the case. Thoroughly unconvinced that the kid is a high major prospect. WRT the Irvin's claim that he's the #2 prospect in Illinois: lol!

As to Finke, his stock is dropping like a rock. Ratings aren't close to everything, but he'll be out of the Top 100 and might lose a star when the next ratings come out. Yes, he's a high major prospect, but his trajectory is cause for concern. There a slew of wings we're after that I like better.

I don't agree. He moved into the top 50 on Rivals after one season as a high major basketball prospect. If that was his junior year and he would presumably be participating in the AAU events this summer, I think it's fair to say he might be rated right with or higher than Ayo in the 2018 class. He's that good. Mich St, Duke and Kentucky all with committable offers. Go back and look at the tape. He does stuff that looks comparable to 5-star players.

I am not commenting on who is a better player, but rather who is a higher profile player.

Ayo is top 20 nationally, the best player on a state championship team, the best player on the highest profile aau team in the area and future Illinois Mr Basketball.

Look at the eybl scoring leaders and you'll see the only players ahead of him are Bagley, Barrett and Bol, that is truly elite company.

You're nuts! That would be an very good class. I'd be very pleased if we were able to pull that off. Do you really expect a new coach to come in here and pull a Kentucky/Duke type class his first year?
