Damn, that's some sad stuff but seeing his fellow Chicago HS hoopers try to get him back to school and playing ball is heartwarming. The #KezoBrownChallenge is them taking a shot lefthanded and posting it, these kids get it!! I hope it works and Ayo gets his mind right.

I know you meant Kezo, but even Ayo's mom is retweeting the challenge. Last night I was reading Kezo's twitter feed from last year until the present and even I was tearing up as you could see him changing and I don't even know the kid.

Mama can’t shoot a 3, definitely not with my left hand but you know my heart! Get well soon baby!😘

CC had released a request, via twitter, asking for respect for his decision. At that time his top two: UM and UoI. I suspect that request was aimed at UoI fans.

Idk if it is aimed at anyone. It's just the same stupid trendy thing all recruits tweet. Get an offer? Must tweet it and say "blessed" with appropriate emoji. Make a commitment or decommitment decision? Tweet it and attach a "respect my decision" with it. Recruiting is annoying because so are high school kids.

Well that's both good and bad to hear. Mental health is no joke, of course, but it is likely less damaging to his future than actually joining a gang would be.

While I think it's pretty clear that the kid's mental health isn't in a good place, I wouldn't dismiss his gang association. His dad isn't going to tell a Sun-Times reporter that his son is in a gang, and the family connection could have pull with him. Gang association in Chicago is much less formal than what you see in the movies, and a lot of it is social media posturing (like what Kezo has been posting).

Regardless, it's heartwarming to see his teammates and rival players support him. Growing up in the wrong part of Chicago is no joke. I have so much respect for those that make it out and better their lives.

Rooting for you Kezo.

Hope the kid gets his mind right. Seems like he's got his family and friends support, which is huge. Get better, Kezo.

As is tradition...

People getting their panties in a bunch over some 17/18 year old kids college decision isn't enough, they have to abuse their decision on social media. It's pathetic.

If your state of mind is affected by the behavior of a 17-year old kid, and it isn't your kid, something is Wrong.

I preface by saying that I am very happy we have BU, and was pleasantly shocked by his hire. But at the the beginning of the coaching search process, when BU was completely off the radar, I really wanted Will Wade to be our coach. His system is very attractive to recruits and he was won a crazy high percentage of games in each of his first 2 stops, sound familiar?

Saw more than a few of his games this year and came away kind of 'blah'. He also seemed to lose the team at times - at least based on some of the buzz and articles. Time will tell, but my initial take is we're in a better place with BU.

247 Sports Composite has 5 B1G (UM, IU, MSU, NW & OSU) in their top 10 class calculator. Ironically, only 1 player off those 5 teams is in the top 50--Iggy at #42. Ayo committing to UI @ #29 would be the B1G's crown jewel unless Trimble commits to IU.
A class of Ayo, THT and Nolley w/o a big man would calculate at #3 in the BIG.

Guy from VT Scoop just put up a CB for Nolley to VT. Their boards are pretty confident. Have to wonder if he told somebody there he's coming.

We'll see. It certainly wouldn't surprise me if he went to VT, though Nolley seems like the kid who has been an Illinois lean the whole time.

Then again, so was Elijah Thomas.

I'm hardly panicking about our recruiting class, but losing Nolley would be a blow that few could brush off. It's particularly concerning when you consider the perception that would exist -- Illinois can't seem to land anybody.

I realize most kids make decisions independent of the decisions other kids make, but I'd be concerned that losing Nolley makes it less likely that we get Ayo. The reverse is also true: getting Nolley makes us more likely to get Ayo.

As far as I'm concerned, this class is all about Ayo and one of Nolley and THT. Losing Conditt? Meh. Losing Castleton? Meh. Losing Nolley would suck.

This is where I'm at. The others felt like independent variables. If Nolley picks VT, it's now a bad trend and a unflattering reputation starts to grow that might turn away other players.

I'm so with you. That's what makes following recruiting so bizarre. The only instance in my life where I give two shots what any high schooler thinks or likes.

And then I'm deciphering every tweet and comment just like the rest of you addicts. :tsk:

Recruiting for next year's class doesn't end in November. Fans just need to be patient. I have confidence in the staff to land a top class.
