Apparently, over the weekend, the Cards upped their offer on the money side for Stanton, so that they are willing to eat more of the contract than SF. I have to give them credit for being all in. How it turns out??????
Regardless, I would really like to see a reliable innings eating SP, but for a 2-3 year contract. Also, a closer and a set-up guy. It's amazing how much the entire bullpen improves, when the last 2 innings are fixed.
If no Stanton, I would look for Yelich. Not a MOTOB, but better defense and he's been a good hitter for his career. Still young, under contract for 4 more years and potentially hitting his prime. Likely, the best player on the Card's team day 1 and the outfield defense turns into a big strength. It should make the line up even better at OBP and have a whole pile of folks that will hit 20 hrs.
