Well, gratz to Phair and Scheelhaase. I hope they both do well with their new teams.

With that said, lets get a solid veteran and maybe pick up a great HS school coach on the D side and get better. Kinda can't wait to see who we get (but I suspect I will be waiting for a couple weeks).

Who is our narration coordinator?

For those old enough to remember:

He just made the move from NIU to SMU, but maybe Brett Diersen is a name to consider for d-line coach.

Doing some digging on 247, Galen Scott at VT would be a great add. Illinois State grad with strong connections in Florida. Could get a title and salary increase at Illinois.

Lovie: “I knew if I had a chance to get Cory Patterson on board I was going to take that opportunity.”

Patterson: “Everything has been moving really fast. I’m elated to be in this position and I’m the young guy that’s just happy to be here right now.”

Patterson: “I’m just ready to have some kind of impact on this program.”

Patterson on leaving Trinity: “I told coach (Lovie Smith) that that was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. They’re excited to see me move on and have success.”

Lovie: “We need to score more points, simple as that. I’m thrilled to have Rod on staff and lead our offense.”

Rod Smith: “There’s some evaluation that happens but overall there’s a base philosophy. We’re going to spread the defense out and get guys out in space.”

Rod Smith on QB room: “Obviously we need more numbers and we’d like to add guys moving forward and upgrade that position.”

Rod Smith: “I’m going to go to work and recruit and sell this university and Coach Smith’s vision.”

OC Rod Smith says he didn’t want to pick up the phone when Lovie Smith called because he remembered watching him coach the Bears in the Super Bowl. “Then he offered me job!”

Lovie Smith: “With our program, people will want our coaches and that’s okay. The NFL will take some of our players too and that’s okay.”

Those last few words tell me Lovie is in a good place: In time once you see what we have done, I think you will like where we are going.
That was just a beautiful way to end the presser.

Bankruptcy and hookers. Not sure if you were serious but he hasn't exactly made the most of his football retirement.

Damn. Too bad. With his personality, he could have been a dynamic coach and recruiter

Perry is still under contract with the Packers. He will either be the Titans' DC or stay in his position with Green Bay. No chance he will be a position coach at Illinois.

Perry is no longer with Green Bay, so I guess he’s going to the Titans...

Aaron Morehead moving from A&M to Vandy. Notable because he was brought up in this thread.

Seems that narrative is totally under control!

Looks the colts are keeping all three assistants they signed (including Phair)
