Still think it's going to be Leipold. Too many things that just fit with Whitman - from personal connection from competing against each other while they were both at Wisconsin schools, to the success he's had everywhere including absolutely dominating at a lower level (like Underwood), to the offense he runs, to the fact that he was be much more affordable than many, and he doesn't give off any vibe he'd ever get Illinois into hot water with the NCAA.
I think you'll see him coach the MAC title game Friday night, where he can tell kids ahead/after the game, and then we'll see an announcement Saturday morning.
And I would have no issues with Leipold to be honest. Like almost anyone from a non-P5 I'd have a concern about recruiting chops, but we need some competence managing the program first and foremost.
I'm always wrong, so take it all with a mountain of salt.
