I will admit, I am having a tough time taking that seriously when Michigan, Penn State, and Michigan State are wrecks and the conference changed its own rules to get Ohio State into the conference championship...
B1G only played an intraconference slate this season. Saying 3 teams are wrecks because they lost to other teams in the B1G isn't exactly getting the whole picture.

Enough with the conference discussion. Let's get back to the wild and baseless speculation. There has to be someone we missed....

Still think it's going to be Leipold. Too many things that just fit with Whitman - from personal connection from competing against each other while they were both at Wisconsin schools, to the success he's had everywhere including absolutely dominating at a lower level (like Underwood), to the offense he runs, to the fact that he was be much more affordable than many, and he doesn't give off any vibe he'd ever get Illinois into hot water with the NCAA.

I think you'll see him coach the MAC title game Friday night, where he can tell kids ahead/after the game, and then we'll see an announcement Saturday morning.

And I would have no issues with Leipold to be honest. Like almost anyone from a non-P5 I'd have a concern about recruiting chops, but we need some competence managing the program first and foremost.

I'm always wrong, so take it all with a mountain of salt.

EDIT - (While I was typing this, apparently it's not that much of a take anymore...)

Its a done deal?
This is likely a good thing. Hopefully this means its a key coach and/or coach and his guys and they don't want to upset the team prior to playing on Sat. Smells like Wake Forrest or Buffalo to me.

And how many Big 10 appearances have been made in the CFP Championship since it was started? 1

How many Big 10 appearances in the BCS National Championship since 2010? 1

ACC has 2 schools and 5 appearances.

We can both agree that the Big 12 and the Pac 12 need to get out.

I am not trying to get into an argument about this, but saying the ACC is inferior to the Big 10 is intellectually dishonest. I legit think they are comparable.
Two ACC schools? Nope. Clemson and whom?

Someone recently told me that he turned down Michigan once before but I don't know how accurate that claim is. Do coaches seeking a big pay day honor rivalries? For that matter, does a program like Michigan stay away from a product of their archrival?

No idea.
Turrned down MSU.

and you almost really need to include ND with the ACC
I could have included ND, but I thought I would get called out on it.

I am proud of the work NC State has done in the ACC. That being said, that is not why I’m on this board. If I can give analysis on ACC stuff to the benefit of this board I will. But I am not trying to get into arguments about conference superiority.

ILL!
