This is exactly like Wisconsin last year. Michigan doesn't have to go to Illinois or Illinois. Wisconsin had the easiest conference schedule of the any of the top teams last year. This year they have the same players, a normal schedule, and they've got 7 losses

It doesn't update after each game, it updates once per day. Notice the OSU-Michigan result isn't factored in yet. Illinois has been #4 in NET for a while now.

Michigan this year is very different than Wisconsin last year.

While Wisconsin had the easiest path in conference play, which helped them secure a 3-way tie for the B1G championship, they still had 6 losses in conference. They had 10 losses overall. They finished the year ranked 22 in KenPom with an adjust efficiency of +18.95.

Michigan on the other hand has just 1 loss so far this season. They’re 5-1 in Quad 1 games. They just won on the road at KenPom #6, who beat us at home earlier this year. They’re currently ranked #3 in KenPom with an adjusted efficiency of +30.50.

Michigan is a very good basketball team. Their schedule hasn’t been quite as difficult as ours so far, but they’ve proven to be the real deal.

We’re going to have a tough time coming out of Ann Arbor with a win.

Bro, I'm not talking up MSU as a BTT dark horse or anything, but it's also not ridiculously important to me to portray them as practically worthless, lol. They have talent and a great coach. I never said they'd beat Michigan, or that they didn't have "a long way to go," but they are better than most of the teams in their neighborhood in the standings, and a rivalry game counts for something.

Cool story bro.

My point was the unbalanced schedule is going to play favorites. Last year, it was Wisconsin. This year it is Michigan.

Michigan doesn't have to play in Iowa City or Champaign. That's 2 likely losses they avoid, bottom line.

Iowa starting to pull away, looking more like Iowa. Penn State has given them a tough game so far though.

scUM´s COVID scheduling antics have not been cool, especially forcing so many road games for UI w/ their delayed makeup game. That stated, the Illini only have to play these teams once in the regular season: Iowa, Michigan, Rutgers and Purdon´t. MSU too, who I didn't think would have this poor of a showing so far. Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer to see a home and home w/ all B10 schools, but the Illini have had tougher conference schedules.

Been a rough couple of days rooting for PSU and Rutgers as they shat in their hats, then today as an Ohio state university let the game slip. But rooting for Iowa is gonna require a whole new level of intestinal fortitude.

You are probably right, but the league announcing how it will determine a regular season champion will only be a debacle if they change the rule to benefit one team, e.g. OSU in football. Waiting to announce the rules until the games have been played will make it look like they are setting the rules to reach a certain result and crown a certain team. I think they should state the rules and then apply them, no matter the outcome.

An unbalanced schedule may play a role in the amount of losses Michigan ends up having at years end. But: if they win the B1G, it’s not a fluke. It’s because they’re the best team in the B1G.

It’s not a similar situation to Wisconsin last year.
