Could be....if his skills and confidence are still intact. Have to wait and see. Categorical predictions are as often wrong as right, but if he can beat out Grandison, the Illini should be fun to watch. Even without Kofi and Ayo, there is enough talent and experience to win more than a few games.
Hutch could be the perfect guy off the bench. Athletic shooter who will be a tough match up for any oppositions guard.

Mitchell looks like an athletic big guy that hits them from the charity stripe and the 3 pt line.

DePaul just fired their coach. The A.D. is still there but I want to see what happens to their highly regarded class.

Have a feeling these kids didn't commit to DePaul for Leitao. Guy had a losing record over 5 seasons plus a new AD coming in. Don't think anyone didnt see this outcome as a possibility, or even probability.
Your feeling has been confirmed 1000 times over. I just didn't see a coaching changed coming until next season at the earliest.

Interesting option, I take Mitchell because he has 2 years left vs Krutwig's one. Mitchell runs the floor much much better and shoots the three decent.
And Tre actually looks to have 3 years remaining if he so chooses (Soph this past Covid season).

Whitman better back the Brinks truck up to OA’s house.

If someone wants to make him a HC and that's what he wants to do, then there is not much Whitman can do.

I can promise you that Whitman is not going to let Chin or OA just walk out the door for another AC job though.

Recruiting is the lifeblood of the program. We are so blessed to have JW because the guy just gets it. Winning changes everything.

I know. But Kansas is kinda a big deal.
True, but the Kansas basketball program is also under investigation for serious recruiting violations. IIRC, the NCAA is investigating two Level I violations relating to benefits given to recruits by an Adidas exec. If those are found to be true, Self could be gone, and it might be a few years before they're allowed to play in the NCAAT. Hopefully, whoever is advising these recruits puts the but in their ears that everything could change over the summer.

Edit: Make that five Level I infractions, and a separate investigation of Bill Self by the FBI. If those charges pan out, KU could get the equivalent of the death penalty that was leveled against SMU football back in the 80s. If I were advising a five-star recruit, I'd have them steer clear until the dust settles. Now that the transfer portal has introduced the concept of free agency to college basketball, they could always transfer there if they wanted to.

You have been the No. 1 guy on Cam Krutwig...do you like Mitchel better?

Tre makes more sense with Kofi. Krutwig makes more sense without.

Cam is a back to the basket player. We'd be running into the same issue that we had trying to run Kofi and Giorgi out there together.. Two bigs neither of which spread the floor.

Tre, though, is making 37% from 3 and could be used in a stretch 4 sort of role.

Not sure if this is right for the recruiting thread. These unbelievable transfer rules are really hard to keep up with. If we're playing Loyola in the second round and Krutwig doesn't like the way things are going, can he transfer at half time or does he have to wait for the end of the year?

As I read/interpret the Special Covid Rules, a halftime transfer is indeed allowed. However, if he makes an announcement video with Tipton Edits during a first half time-out, we'll know that he's not transferring to Champaign.

Underwood has done a great job of coaching, but the biggest part of that is hiring the right guys. If you are successful they will move on and move up. That’s just the way it is and should be. The only question to me is can he over time continue to hire the right guys? I hope so and he set the bar mighty high with this current group!!

I would expect that all three of his assistants will eventually be lured away with head coaching jobs. As they should. I also have no doubt that Coach Underwood will be able to attract quality replacements. That being said, this group is special. Underwood is obviously comfortable letting them fulfill their roles, which a lot of leaders are unable to do. So, bottom line, change will happen and we will be just fine.

As always you make perfect sense Indy. But to think that about 3 years ago there were alot of people on here and elsewhere that were calling for Whitman's head. Lots still on here but very quiet now. They thought his hires of Lovie and Underwood were botched. Plus he is nothing more than a Guenther disciple. Whitman might just be the best AD in the BIG right now.

Gotta like this quote from Boakye:

When it comes to what he will be looking for in a college program, it's straight-forward.

"A college that's in need of a big right away," said Boakye.

"A college that's in need of a big right away," said Boakye.

"As Boakye undergoes the recruiting process again and deciding on his future school, he will also be weighing the decision on reclassifying to the 2021 class and he expressed where his thoughts currently stand on that decision. "I'm not sure yet, we will have to see how things play out with my academics and school situation," he said of his thoughts on reclassifying."

Would be great if he could reclassify to 2021 and be here next season when we will be "in need a big right away" if Kofi leaves us.

With Jim Phillips now gone, JW is certainly in the conversation.
