“Insiders” once again.
I don't understand why the blame is shifted to insiders. Even reporters from other schools were reporting early in the week that it was likely Illinois. Things changed. Get over yourselves.

El oh el. We are not a serious program at all.

But hey we came in second again! Let’s pat ourselves on the back everyone

Could that mean that Garcia going to UNC means Kofi coming back to UI. Who knows. We are still going to be a good team. I do not see us being middle of the pack BT team.

How many of these can we be leading only for another program to swoop in at the 11th hour with a better offer?

Pretty frustrating but think we only need one more big to have a really solid team next year. Hopefully that’s Kofi and if not, someone else.

García and Kofi were complementary pieces in theory. Although, with Kofi wanting to develop more of a mid-range game, having more of an opportunity there could be more attractive. That being said, I think with Kofi it's going to come down to how he's utilized (to improve his draft stock) and how much money he'll make. He's older and it's a pretty open secret that he's ready to start earning yesterday.

We still have slots to fill. Until then who knows. IF we fail to land anymore impact guys, I don’t see us cracking the top 4.

Honestly, I think it means Kofi is not coming back. The NIL changes everything. It’s about getting paid. The big boys can make bigger offers and it’s legal (sorta). Lord knows I’d like to be proven wrong but my gut says he’s gone. Everything he’s posted sounds like goodbye and a transfer to a blue blood, in his mind, is a move upward toward his ultimate goal.

Any thoughts on how or if receiving big NIL money will affect on-court player performance, locker room presence, coachability etc.??

Did they? I think one of the reasons insiders have a bad rep on this forum, is that reports of "leading" come across as implying the lead will hold when it counts (at the end). That's simply not the case. Leading and getting sniped is still missing out. IMO the reason national analysts are better than our insiders is that they know how things speed up and get closed, how offers generate counter-offers, what tricks are in the bag, and where things are likely headed. (For those reasons, you can guess what I think will happen with Kofi.)

Personally, I enjoy the discussion, but until I see us improve our closing rate, I won't expect these to go our way. And I say this as someone who's been impressed with recruiting overall. The team has excellent talent, better chemistry, and a better product on the court. But, we aim high and have plenty of misses with recruiting. Underwood has shown that he can put together a top team even with misses.

And who cares if they did, every word 0440 said was more exciting to me than any of the thousands of comments by thousands of fans on this forum including myself.

Is there really any reason to be confident about Kofi? Yeah I'm hoping he stays, but realistically we're just going along for another ride. I mean we can pretty much write the script:
Leaning Illinois
Blue bloods offer
Positive meeting with Illinois
Verge of announcing he's staying
Random delay
Announcing for blue blood.

Yes, but no more "no-sit" transfers after this year.
I may have missed something, but doesn't everyone get 1 no-sit transfer and if transferring again it will be handled on a case by case basis?
