Is there more to the Bass de-commitment? I know it will be a loaded backcourt next year but I saw very little chatter about him moving on and what little chatter I did find implied that the staff may have suggested it. He seemed all in (yes, I know they always do) and he appeared to have a good summer.
Staff took him very early in the cycle. Massive assistant coaching changes took place, Chester came in with a group of guards he liked (2 of which we have landed, hopeful to be more soon) and he got recruited over. Also rumors that there were attitude issues both on and off the court that the staff didn't find out until after he was committed. The staff had the talk with him awhile ago, and he was essentially "fake" committed for at least weeks/maybe months while they knew all along he wasn't a take anymore (can't talk publicly about recruits until signing day, I believe, meaning that Bass could keep tweeting and pretending he was a part of the class all he wanted)

Obviously he decided recently that enough was enough, and once he finally accepted that they weren't going to take him he opened up his recruitment to hopefully give him adequate time to find a new home. Think that covers most of it.

Will it really be a loaded backcourt? If Curbelo leaves, all we would have is Podz and the two FR. I guess if Hutch returns and is considered a guard that would be a fourth. But we really need 2-3 stud guards in the '22 class (at least one capable of playing PG). We need 1-2 PF/Cs also. Wing isn't as big a need, but Whitmore is someone you want no matter what.

If Belo goes pro I believe we will go hard after a veteran transfer PG who can share the duties with Epps. They won't want to roll with an essentially all frosh/soph backcourt IMO

If we hypothetically added Whitmore, Corhen, and Oweh, then that would put us at the #2 class on 247 for 2022.

Attitude issues and a helicopter mom.

Indiana got commitment from top 30 guard Jalen Hood-Schifino. And Penn St. recently got a verbal from a guy just outside 100 — Jameel Brown. B1G just keeps adding talent. Good thing Illini do too.

How does Indiana get anybody in the top 100? No way that boring program is a destination program anymore. 90% of the team wanted, or tried to leave last year. Facilities are older than dirt and they still wear candy stripes.

Indiana University didn't get this kid to wear striped pants. MIke Woodson did. The guy has been coaching in the NBA for 20 years. I fear this was a really good hire for IU.
