I've attended just one game in Bloomington --- a Bruce Douglas-led blowout (in 1985 maybe?). Seems like we led by 20 or so in the second half. I was essentially the only orange in a sea of red. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!

I'm sorta expecting the same outcome this Saturday, provided we're at full-strength and Belo can get at least 18-20 minutes. If we're going to compete for the Big10 title, we have to win these games against mid-tier conference opponents, whether at home or on the road. It should be raining 3's all afternoon!

77 - ILL
66 - IND
Wait a minute! Just one game? You mean you're not the real Deon?

How often does it happen that there are zero BigTen games played between two regularly scheduled games for any given team?

Nice that all anyone has had to talk about for three days will be Illinois thumping Wisconsin.

And the baseball cards (Topps) came with that hard stick of bubble gum. I liked it that the cards always had that bubble-gum smell. I used to look for coins that people had dropped under the copy machine at the drug store. Then I would use the money I found to buy baseball cards. My mom was not happy with me crawling under the copy machine.
The laundromat was a good source for change. Needed a yardstick to get under and between machines though.

Me too...after watching them beat Purdue at home 2 weeks ago, ..they are solid and we cant look past them.

This 2 game Hoosier state road trip is an interesting schedule sequence with not much break in between. Would like to leave the Purdue game next week with 2 road wins to set table for our stretch run in B10.
"Interesting" and I'd add extremely challenging. I'd love to win both but it wouldn't break my heart if we split.

Agree, Race has been playing well this season in the games I've watched. Also agree that giving BBV at least a look vs Race is not a terrible idea. BBV has the strength to match up, just dont know if he can stay in front of him.
I’d actually be more worried about BBV’s negative impact on offense if he played the 4. I could see him doing OK against Race on D, but I don’t remember him playing much if any 4 this year. So asking him to play 4 without much practice seems to me would lead to either bogging down things and/or messing badly with spacing.

DaMonte Williams efficiency numbers are Wow.
You know, he always makes me think of Sergio McLean. About the same height, very strong, intense defensively and good rebounder. Sergio was more of a threat to score, however, and better at creating his shot.

After every game Trayce has been writing the name of the next opponent on a white board for his teammates to see as they walk into the locker room. It's his way of reminding them to focus on the game that will be at hand instead of self congratulating.

I'm fairly certain that a team as successful as Illinois has been this year is not especially concerned with an opposing player reminding his teammates who the next game is against, or the opposing coach pronouncing a silent consonant.

Peace

We had our very own washing machine with clotheslines for drying in the basement of our house. So I missed out on the chance to scavenge at the laundromat. I can only imagine how lucrative it might have been for me.

Do you remember that three Sergio hit while falling out of bounds from deep? I forget who they were playing but that was impressive. I loved Sergio.

BBV is strictly a post player.

Yeah, I do. He was easy to love. Intense and inch for inch, maybe the best rebounder in the Big 10.

I was 5 rows up mid court went Nick Anderson nailed 25 footer to beat Indiana in 1989. 17,000 Hoosiers went dead silent. Best $150 bucks I ever spent.

Jay Edwards had just hit an impossible jumper from behind the backboard to tie the game with 2 seconds left.

There was a big snowstorm that day so driving to and from Bloomington Indiana was messy. The Flying Illini were AWESOME

I guess it's not surprising, but interesting that they went ahead and said that they plan to do a lot of screens on the offensive side to try to pull Kofi out of the paint where they can take advantage of their superior quickness.
As long as Kofi is guarding TJD he isn't leaving the paint. That's why it's such a pro Kofi match up, TJD can't shoot.

I'll never forget the smirk on Edwards face. TV announcers all but called the game over.

Lou was master at drawing up plays for last second shots.

Did we see Nick again? Did he get out of that pile?

And IIRC one of Edwards’ feet was on the baseline when he sank that jumper.

I liked that era when Keith Jackson called Sunday afternoon marquee BT games on ABC for a while.

Looks like Phinisee will not be playing for IU tomorrow. He's one of those guys that can get on a heater and cause issues. That can't hurt(until his backup goes 6 for 6).

BBV is strictly a post player.
When he arrived he was touted as a 3 pt shooter. Never mentioned as a post player. Is there someone here who knows this or an assumption based on his limited usage as an emergency replacement?
