Bigtex
- DFW
based on seeding - below average. only 1 team so far advanced beyond what was expected.Big Ten didn't really do much worse than the selection committee expected to be honest. They seeded 3 of our teams in the top 16, and 2 of our teams advanced to the last 16. Off by one. No Big Ten teams were seeded in the top 8. So if either of the Big Ten teams advances to the Elite Eight, you could argue the conference actually exceeded expectations. It is possible we had a lot of teams worthy of being in the lower half or lower 3/4 of the bracket, which is exactly how the selection committee seeded us. And our last three teams in (Indiana, Rutgers, Michigan) have gone a combined 3-2, which isn't terrible for a group of 11 and 12 seeds.
3 seed Purdue in sweet 16 (as expected)
11 seed Michigan in sweet 16
6 Ohio St out as expected
7 mich st out as expected
11 Indiana out as expected
11 Rutgers out as expected
3 Wisconsin out before expected
4 Illinois out before expected
5 Iowa out before expected
But when you look at the ACC - 4 teams so far advanced beyond what was expected with 3 still alive.
8th seed NC in Sweet 16
2nd seed Duke in Sweet 16 (as expected)
10 seed Miami in sweet 16
11 seed ND advanced beyond what was expected
11 seed Va Tech out as expected.
Or look at the Pac12 last year.
