You all need to get out of the Big 10 bubble. Georgetown is still Georgetown...they play in the Big East, play games in MSG and get plenty of national attention regardless of their record.
I am not sure “Georgetown is Georgetown” any more than “(Dee Brown Era) Illinois was (Malcolm Hill Era) “Illinois.” We both have good histories, play in nationally televised games vs. big name opponents, are covered regularly in big markets, etc …. but if your team is terrible, it’s going to hinder your exposure a bit. Most avid college basketball fans knew who Malcom was … your average 24-year old girl out in Old Town on a Saturday who never watches sports knows who Kofi is. I know that’s Chicago, but still.

I don't see Georgetown getting rid of Ewing anytime soon to be honest. Recruiting has been the issue for them, not coaching. They don't have much talent on that roster.

People think this is similar to the Chris Mullin situation at St Johns but Chris had a boatload of talent on the roster that lost to Arizona State in the First Four.
I don't know. You might be right but Ewing has been there for 5 years and just went 0-19 in the conference. He is responsible for the talent, not the last guy.

If you read these news links below, they are more bad news to me. I think he's gotten 1-2 years to turn around.

Everyone I have talked to is saying it's going to be Georgetown and it has been that way since they hired Nickelberry.

He really liked Tennessee and Illinois but he wants to be the man.

G-Town basically sold him on being the next Aminu. 15 shots a game, and of course some lucrative NIL stuff.
What happens when Ewing is canned? You'd think a guy transferring from a school where his coach just got canned would be particularly interested in stability.

I think it's going to rain tomorrow, but it might also be sunny, or just cloudy.

Discuss.

Would guess 3 man rotation with Dain, Hawk, and Hopkins for the frontcourt.
I have not seen Dain yet but I wouldn't be so quick to put him behind anyone at the 5 spot if Kofi were to leave. Hawk got backed down by bigger guys at times and at the 5 that may be a better role for Dain than Hawk.

He's from Baltimore, so it's also a move home. It's not like he doesn't know Georgetown stinks or that Ewing is on the hot seat. He's not going there for Ewing, he's going there for Nickelberry.

So if you are able to go home, get a nice load of cash, be the focal point of the team, which will help your personal NBA stock, why not? You trade team wins for a lot of personal wins. Not a terrible trade.

If Ewing is fired and Nickelberry leaves, well these kids are used to hopping from high school to high school. I don't think they're overly concerned of hopping from college to college.

I grew up rooting for Georgetown as my number 2 team. I can understand wanting to be "the guy" absolutely, but the program is deader than a doornail. I would harbor no ill will toward him for going there. It would be cool if it works out for sure. But man its just going to be hard to enjoy playing for what is most likely going to be a completely pitiful team.

I think you are right for the most part. I would pick a team with a better chance to go to tournament though to maximize exposure. But the NIL money part does sound attractive.

Am I correct in assuming that the transfer portal visits do not count against our high school recruits “Official” restrictions? Is there a limit on how may transfer players are allowed to visit? Do they get the same red carpet treatment as the high school kids?

Just curious

Maybe he’s used to balancing?

Not disagreeing, saying Dain and Hawk to start but Hawk would move to center when Hopkins comes to relieve Dain. Actually think they would put a high priority on backup to Dain because they really would not to play Hawk at the 5. Would be easier to play Dain at the four than Hawk at the five.

Expecting Murray to announce for Georgetown, but I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to us or Tennessee either
This is flipping hilarious...........I just laughed out loud in my office.

Great for him. I fully respect and appreciate good players playing for the home team. We all should, since Ayo making a similar move to a crappy team started the parade. And since we are now vying for TSJ and, to a lesser extent, Adam, to do the same.

I wish him great luck.
It was more interesting when kids stayed local. However now they even jump in HS to these sports academies.

I will never the forget the 89 Illini -
5 starters from Illinois: Nick Simeon, Kendall Mateson ,Bardo Carbondale, Lowell Providence St Melox, Kenny W Aurora

2004 Illini
4 starters from Illinois : Dee Proviso West, Luther Manley, Roger Joliet Central, James Lincoln Way (Deron was from Dallas)

2020 Illini
3 starters from Illinois: Ayo Morgan Park, DaMonte Peoria Manual, Adam Morgan Park (Kofi NY, Trent FL)

2021 Illini
1 starter from Ilinois: DaMonte

I doubt he thinks he’s going to transfer and they are going to go 10-15 next year. I’m sure he believes with the guys there and adding himself, that their going to be significantly better.
