We can trust the defense all we want, they have earned it. But when we play as much man as we do, Palmer might get free a couple times. Spoon needs to make sure he tackles everything without allowing YAC.

Or, well you know, win every 1 on 1 matchup against the leagues #1 receiver.

There must be. Vegas doesn’t care who wins or loses. All they care about is having a relatively even split of money bet on each game.

opening betting lines are sometimes wrong - maybe based on bad information on injuries or weather. They are set with the goal of getting equal amounts bet on both sides. The line in our game hasnt moved by more than a 1/2 point all week, so the public is pretty much believing the line is correct, as of right now.

Nebraska is home, its a sell out, and maybe the normal 3 point advantage for home field is up to 5 for this game. maybe people think our team will be intimidated . I dont know.

But I think we cover, but then again , I dont bet on the beloved, and I really never bet on sports unless Im in Vegas or in a casino.

I don't bet on the beloved because this state won't let me. When I am out of state though....

My son plays HS football California CIF (Mater Dei, Bosco etc). I was working chain gang for his game and an assistant coach on opposing team recognized my Illini baseball cap. He said he played at Nebraska and the Illini were a tough team.

We are getting some serious respect!

All valid points of course.

I've seen our secondary knock the living dog crap out of opposing Big Ten WRs thu out this season (all legit/legal hits too. The Wisconsin game being the biggest example of this) and they have maintained lock down coverage the vast majority of the time which only adds to how impressive they've been considering how Offensive friendly the refs are these days (not including the completely laughable TD we had against IU that was called back. Don't even get me started on that! smdh )

I know Palmer is quite great but as another poster pointed out on here , the Husker's QB has been quite the turnover machine lately and our Defense is ready to feast on some corn on the combster road kill.

It’s already been a year to remember for the Illinois football team.
The current leaders in the Big Ten West, Illinois is scheduled to roll into Nebraska's Memorial Stadium on Saturday with a 6-1 record and a No. 17 national ranking — the program’s best since 2011. It’s been a long time coming for Illinois fans considering the program hasn’t had a winning season since that year.
But, the success of this year’s Illinois team isn’t the result of a five- or 10-year rebuild — it’s the result of a coach who knows how to win in the Big Ten.

Having spent eight seasons with Iowa, nine seasons with Wisconsin and now two years at Illinois, head coach Bret Bielema has followed a Big Ten blueprint to build tough, winning football teams at each stop.
At Wisconsin, that meant a high-powered rushing attack that ran behind a punishing offensive line and a 4-3 defensive scheme that aimed to eliminate opponents’ hopes of doing the same. The Badgers finished with a top-15 rushing offense four seasons in a row under Bielema from 2009-12.
In his seven seasons atop the Wisconsin program, Bielema used that formula to win three conference titles and compile a record of 68-24.

There is a path.....If we run the table and beat a top 4 Michigan team then a top 2 OSU team, how do we not make the final 4? I know there's a jug of Orange Koolaid consumed for that scenario, but it has been so long since Illini football has done anything, so lets keep this dream alive at Nebraska!!!!!!
