Watching msu IU game. Tough d is getting to IU. Yes they are doubling tjd. Izzy isn’t going to let tjd go off like did on UI.
Yes, we made him feel very comfortable in the first 5 minutes of the game, which snowballed from there. Have to come out with intensity from the tip, and our guys often do not.TJD is also missing shots that he made all game against us
I'm very late to this discussion; however, having lived in DC for a long time and talked to a lot of people knowledgeable about G'twn hoops, it's difficult to understate the extreme dysfunction associated with the program regarding the long shadow that John Thompson Sr. casts over it.This is so perplexing. How is it not ok to get rid of a coach that has destroyed the program for so many years. It's beyond politics and tradition at this point and maybe a few years ago. The longer this goes on, the crazier this becomes for everyone. Also, how does PE justify it in his own mind? So bizarre why he even wants to stay at this point.
Yeah, game is a lot easier when you know it’s 1 one 1 with your man and no help is comingTJD is also missing shots that he made all game against us
I agree completely bro.....I just started watching @ the 11:00 mark and tjd missed 2 bunnies and had an attempted pass to him get picked off by sissoko.......TJD is also missing shots that he made all game against us
altgeld88, thanks for asking.I'm very late to this discussion; however, having lived in DC for a long time and talked to a lot of people knowledgeable about G'twn hoops, it's difficult to understate the extreme dysfunction associated with the program regarding the long shadow that John Thompson Sr. casts over it.
Am curious how my fellow DC-area Loyalty brethren view the sitch.
TJD is a very good college player but like Deon Thomas mentioned repeatedly on the IU-ILL game broadcast, he consistently goes to his left and almost always uses his left hand. Even in the game today against MSU, he had an easier dunk with his right hand that he switched to his left hand to complete. The team that figures out how to force him to his right (and use his right hand) is going to beat him and Indiana (unless they have someone like Kofi who can engulf him--it will also be interesting to see how he performs against Edey). He'll never be a great pro and Indiana will not go far in March until he figures that out.Yeah, game is a lot easier when you know it’s 1 one 1 with your man and no help is coming
Things TJD gets away with (that other players don’t):Did the refs get in TJDs grill about taunting, warned him ?
Looks like the beat down TJD put on us and DD has given him a big shot of confidence and arrogance.Things TJD gets away with (that other players don’t):
Taunting/getting in the face of the opponent
Aggressively bumping/backing down his defender
Camping in the lane on offense
I thought he was in the lane for about 5 seconds on multiple occasions.Things TJD gets away with (that other players don’t):

They tried but ultimately they struggle with the same thing we do - no true dominant Big. Sissoko is a big body but he doesn’t have the skill on the other side to force TJD to play great defense. I’m not sure TJD can do that without fouling. If you slap him with two early fouls, his vibe is totally different and he tends to pout.I thought he was in the lane for about 5 seconds on multiple occasions.
He has 31 points but on 10/20 shooting so I am not sure Izzo did better than BU on stopping him
Evergreen, my friend, particularly to those of a certain age, though I realize many here feel otherwise!Mich starting to get their act together. They were behind earlier in the half to the golfers
As are these uniforms. Maryland in bright gold and Purdue in dark green? Bizarre.Officiating in the Maryland v Purdue game is something else…
Same issue we had. Galloway and Bates went off for more than twice their season average. Hold them to their average and MSU wins. You think IZZO can make in game adjustments better then BU.. well.. TJD went off for 31, 15 and 4 today in a not as close as the score shows win over MSU..

TJD: 31, 15 boards and 5 blocks today. It’s because they’re either doubling him or flashing help on every single possession. Even the anticipation of the double from the is enough to throw him off and we never gave him that
Well, I guess TJD was too much for Sissoko since he was unable to slam him in the nose and knock him to the ground causing broken bones and a concussion. Screw Sissoko! He is a thug. Anything bad that happens to him is well earned. They tried but ultimately they struggle with the same thing we do - no true dominant Big.
