DGL seems to be kind of like a Curbelo that scores (a lot more). What I hope for is the attitude and confidence to carry him through the dry spells, and we know that will happen being a young player in the Big Ten. Some great things to like. Hope it all comes together.

It’s be nice if DGL can carry that scoring ability to the college level. Epps had a transition period and has come out looking like he’s gonna be an awesome 4 year player.

Maybe DGL won’t need to contribute next year but it’d be a bonus if he played so well they couldn’t keep him on the bench.

Size/D may be his limitations.

The tough thing for freshmen these days is patience and trusting the process. It’s easy to think “well I was a stud in high school and therefore should be the same right away in college.” Obviously, that isn’t true for many, and is hard to accept, which is why the transfer portal can be such a blessing and a curse. It’s the “quick fix” method if you feel “coach doesn’t know how to utilize my skill set” as a young player who is simply behind others on the depth chart. I always loved old teams that develop their players. I especially love them now in the transfer portal era.

Here's the thing about DGL: he's a lottery ticket. He very clearly has a bunch of hoops attributes that translate to high major ball. I see a kid who can go on a major heater any time and his quickness & athleticism are still gonna be a problem at the next level. If it doesn't work out, well, on to the next. Epps and Moretti provide ample cover at PG. One thing I'm not worried about: our staff tolerating a bad tood.

I don't really know what to think of this kid, end of the bench at Montverde, entourage that is known to be problematic, looks fairly emotional on the court.

That said his stats in Overtime elite through 8 games are: 20.1 ppg, 4.7 rbg, 4.1 apg, 1.3 spg while shooting 60.4% from the field, 41.8% from 3, and 77.8% on FTs.

Looking at those stats you say to yourself, holy crap this kid is an All American. So mixing those 2 thoughts, being on the end of the bench at Montverde is not the worst thing in the world because their roster is ridiculous. I also question the overall talent in OTE because his stats there are a huge jump from the end of the bench. His actually ability is surely somewhere in between.

With DGL I think it will be all about the intangible stuff. Is he going to have the right mindset? Is he going to be mentally tough when an upperclassmen schools him? Is he going to accept being a backup? Is he going to be willing to get punched in the teeth and say, ok how do I make sure that doesn't happen again? And perhaps even more important, will his entourage accept that? He tweets that doubting him just fuels him. OK great, but talk is cheap. Bouncing from school to school doesn't seem to backup the tweets. So is he going to be willing to stick with Underwood and push through struggles to get to where his game can be? The kid clearly has a lot of ability. Guess we shall find out.

I don't know which would disturb me more, if this image already existed as something someone created for who knows what reason, or if you just whipped it up real quick for this purpose 🤣
Hahaha…I got out my sketch book and Viola!
Nah, just kidding…that would be option #1.

The funny thing is…I had choices to pick from. The internet is a very strange place indeed. lol.

Pump the brakes on this kid. He's not that fast or quick or strong or big or muscular or... Yes, he can jump but there was a reason he was third string here in Florida. 6'0"- 160 (maybe) and dropped like a stone in the ratings.

Coming to the Big Ten, its big-boy basketball. He'll get eaten alive by Big Ten guards unless he morphs into something he is not right now. JMHO!!

One can dream....

His athleticism is readily apparent and it's awesome to see. The one thing I worry about in seeing his recent highlights is that if you replaced the kids with traffic cones in most of the clips you'd see about the same level of defense

Well, as a 24 year old, Trent Frazier is listed at 6'2", 175. Not sure what he was as a high school senior. Plummer is 6'1", 180. Again, not sure what he was as a high school senior. Carson Edwards was 5'11" max.

You don't have to be a physical specimen to be an extremely effective college player.

Curbelo is a true PG with great court vision and distributing skills and a poor outside shot. This kid is a SG.

Then why does St. John's stick him in the corner. Curbelo had good results as a freshmen but not so much sense.

They are looking to bring in a Plummer type player for next year. I would expect a wing, shooter, and maybe a veteran point guard
LvilleILL, if we bring in a veteran PG or a Plummer type player, with Epps, Moretti, DGL and a transfer guard, where does Harris fit in next year? I love Harris’s game but concerned on the crowded guards spots.

I think Harris and Rodgers need to shoot about 5000 jump shots a day with an assistant coach critiquing their form. They are super athletic and dynamic defenders and rebounders and if they could get to double-figure scoring would be aces..
Absent that they may be role players

A SG/Wing with size hopefully. Imagine we will have Dainga, Coleman, Epps starting. Possibly Goode and Ty in the other spots. Melendez and Sincere with major minutes.

I agree. I think DGL can score. His development probably hinges on his defense.
