They are looking to bring in a Plummer type player for next year. I would expect a wing, shooter, and maybe a veteran point guard

Yep ... They will bring in an alpha #1 guy on wing, an elite Plummer type of shooter who can be a number 2 guy, and a veteran point guard who can handle the ball but doesn't need 10 shots a game to be efficient ... They like Epps at the 1 or the 2 ... Depending on who that transfer guard is will determine where Brad wants to play Epps ...

But I'd expect 3 additions from the portal ...

Pistol Pete
To me, MJ is in a class by himself. Then there is a list tied for second. The Big O, Bill Russell, The Big Dipper, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dr. J. Larry Bird, Magic. ... LeBron.

I'd tentatively put Pistol Pete in a third tier with Hondo, Jerry West, Bob Cousy, Sir Charles, the Mailman, Duncan, among others.

Epps will start ... Dainja will start ... Gonna bring in two transfers who will start ... Last spot will be up for grabs, but I'd bet on Hansberry ...

Bring Buck, Ty and Goode off the bench ...
Hmm...If Goode was a starter going into this year it would be hard to imagine him not in the lineup next November.

Transfers you mention... Kid from Texas Tech?

Kobe and Shaq would like a word with you.

Brad says many things to hype kids up: Mark Smith was the next Jason Kidd, Curbelo was the next Steve Nash, and Goode was going to start ...

And maybe Goode would've started to begin the year? But he definitely would not be starting now ...

Not going to comment on any potential guys that could join the team until they are officially in the portal ...

So I guess Buck is Sencire's nickname but wouldn't it have been cool if it was Ty's?

If Hansberry improves his shot, which it looks like he has at least a little during this season, I would not be shocked to see that he starts barring an addition of a frontcourt transfer. Will be interesting to see how the frontcourt fit around Dain will turn out.

We all are on message boards because we care more about Illini basketball than anyone else, and naturally we all want to look ahead to next year and the future and be as excited as possible.

But there's also part of me that thinks this is really bad for the chemistry and momentum going into the finish of the current season if everyone is already speculating on next year's roster, especially for the guys who might not be here next year or pushed into lesser roles next year.

I wish we could just all unite for the best finish possible for this year, all the guys on the current roster to play their best down the stretch and into the tournament, RJ to get things going like so many were hoping for and expecting coming into the year, everyone on the roster click when we all want it the most.

I don't know how it helps when people are already thinking about who will come in next year which obviously also means who won't be here next year. I look at how bad we played against Loyola, and then a few weeks later we find Adam Miller not happy and he's gone, and I look at last year and how guys struggled not just vs. Houston but we barely won the 4/13 game, and then Curbelo and so many others are gone....and it's obvious looking back that we were not pulling on the same page going into the most important games of the season in the tournament.

I know it will never happen, and I'm as guilty as anyone for logging on here to see what the insiders are saying about next year's roster/rumors (and our insiders are incredible and my favorite posters here), but I also think if this speculation all started April 1 or after our tournament loss that it would be a good thing. I mean these players already are under a ton of pressure to perform against the best competition in Big Ten and highest level of Division I basketball, I just wish they also didn't have to worry about their roster spots or roles or whatever the following year...there will be plenty of time to sort that out after the season. And I get all the 'times have changed, transfer portal...." I just want to see us all play our best in mid and late March and I think team chemistry/momentum is something that gets overlooked.

Just my two cents.

Asking fans to not think about next year is like asking Brad to wait until after our last game of the season to start recruiting for the next season.

This kid is a SG.

Don't have much to add, but we've seen undersized SGs contribute in college. If 42% is a real number for his 3 pt percent, it's not hard to imagine he can help the team.

As much as I don't really enjoy rampant speculation without any actual information about who is transferring, we are fans posting on a message board and have absolutely no effect on the chemistry or momentum of the team. Whatever happens in the locker room is going to happen regardless of what we do on here.

we can all be mad at a mistake and in the next breath wish them well in the next seconds, minutes, days, weeks
I want this year's players to have success this year. nothing is better than seeing Coleman, TSJ, Epps, RJ, et al smile after a play and especially after a game
Same with last year's team and the years before
It is a journey with struggles, small and big - and they will triumph through their struggles
I've never understood fan's directing their personal disappointments and frustrations at players, is it that hard to be supportive, with words of encouragement, and lift them up?
