I think his, along with a few others‘ energy and mental focus to start the game contributes heavily to the early deficits.I'm curious to know the +- for Dainja. I'm concerned I see a correlation with these early deficits and his mishaps.
Are we locked into the 8/9 game?Let's win the 8/9 game on Thursday and play those clowns again Friday afternoon. We'll beat them at the UC.
Any chance we go back to Dain on the bench to start the game like we did in the beginning of the year?I think his, along with a few others‘ energy and mental focus to start the game contributes heavily to the early deficits.
This was our first meeting this season.I’ll repeat: These guys didn’t give up. Whatever Underwood said at half-time, bottle it up, and sell it. I wanted them to be rewarded for their perseverance and grit, but it wasn’t meant to be today. I think we beat them if we get them a third time in the BTT with a pro Illini crowd…
I'm more confident a rematch against Purdue is winnable than an 8/9 game if the season MO holds.Let's win the 8/9 game on Thursday and play those clowns again Friday afternoon. We'll beat them at the UC.
Was that Harris or TSJ? I thought it was Harris at first, but then the announcer said Shannon. Whoever it was definitely almost jumped out of the gym.wish I knew how high Sencire jumped when he busted up that alley-oop attempt on defense... he looked like he had a jetpack on.
Not locked yet, but a distinct possibility. Im guessing 7 or 8 depending on Indiana/Michigan.Are we locked into the 8/9 game?
I would love to know what the play we drew up down 69-67 was. Mayer came for a handoff and Hawkins wouldn’t give it to him. Seems like someone wasn’t running the play that got drawn up.In a supporting role. That's not the role he is playing on this team.
I have to take exception to that. He could have done what he could to minimize his foul. Mayer was already going down. Instead he chose to use both hands and shove Mayer to the floor. In my opinion that has to be called a flagrant. At the very least it should be reviewed. He was faked out and couldn't really do anything on the way down aslt that point. It started with him making a basketball play. It was a hard foul. It didn't need to be flagrant.
Indiana actually beat them twice. I think that mold was already cast. We sucked the 1st half or we could have won by double digits.Ok, we have their number, we just showed everyone how to beat PU. If I am an Illini player or coach, I would want another shot at them so badly. Put us in their bracket, please.
You’re gonna miss him next year. He can get a !!!! at anytime and has kept us in a ton of games on his own.Mayer blew up two straight possessions in the last minute. Not going to miss that at all next year.
TSJ had a great block too, but IIRC Harris broke up an alley loop and looked like he jumped five feet in the air on TV.Was that Harris or TSJ? I thought it was Harris at first, but then the announcer said Shannon. Whoever it was definitely almost jumped out of the gym.
The early mishaps were TSJ.I'm curious to know the +- for Dainja. I'm concerned I see a correlation with these early deficits and his mishaps.
That math doesn't check out... Maybe you meant an 8 seed. Or by a 4 seed in the sweet 16?Can’t wait for Purdue to get knocked out second round against a 4 seed in the NCAAT.
Some of his bad shots throughout the course of the game I'm OK with but I agree, towards the end of the game he has to be more aware. I heard him say in an interview something along the lines of "My job is to chuck threes and play good defense" and just made me shake my head. The dude is so gifted handling the ball at his size, that if he would have the presence of mind to drive more, especially when his shot isn't falling, he'd be so much better. Not sure if its a lack of basketball IQ or selfishness. I'd tend to lean towards IQ as he's on a new role as a leader on a new team but idk.Matthew Mayer does a lot of good things, but I'm not sure he is a winning player. We have seen him take bad shot after bad shot in critical situations, and they very rarely go in. At times, it still doesn't feel like this team is all pulling on the same rope.
I am not going to miss him, even if the good outweighs the bad. He was 1-10 from three today and still took it upon himself to (try) and take two horrid ISO threes in the last minute of the game. You’re gonna miss him next year. He can get a !!!! at anytime and has kept us in a ton of games on his own.
I saw that too. Nothing called. The guys on FOX said nothing either. He was already going down and EDEY shoved him hard. If Matt plays Thursday, it will be nothing short of a miracle. Hopefully we can get all of our guys back.I have to take exception to that. He could have done what he could to minimize his foul. Mayer was already goi g down. Instead he chose to use both hands and shove Mayer to the floor. In my opinion that has to be called a flagrant. At the very least it should be reviewed.
