If you‘re going to be “every day guys“ , you have to be “ten toes in”. Sorry.I just wanted to see this again. The absolute antithesis of “Everyday guys”

Really want Coleman back for another year. Truly think he can ascend to All-B1G level. CH, Ty, Sincere, and Luke are key to bringing back the fire Trent/DaMonte left.
He did have 6 turnovers today. He contributes some. But yes I love his talent. A lot was hung on his shoulders this yr. would be great if he came back but I don’t expect it.It sure as hell ain’t on you Coleman.
Skyy transferred to louisville and posted on social media the second we lost
Did we underachieve by only being a 9 Seed to begin with...?A 9 seed losing to an 8 seed isn't really underachieving.......just sayin
Is this last year's post? Nevermind, you mean Assistant Coaches, not Andre Curbelo. Moving on.Tough way to end the year. Not much positive will come from this season. Hearing rumors of lots of departures, including ACs. It seems Brad sacrificed his culture this season. I hope he learned his lesson. It might take him a year or two to get back to the tournament….
And maybe BU? (promises to guys)Thinly veiled shot at MM?
Yeah, the dude publicly called out his coach twice! You don’t do that-PERIOD.Pretty damn fine guess there young lady..........the first sign of cracks in the Illini wall was the infamous presser where MM basically gave the impression that he didn't agree with the coaches scheme's and that the players should have a say in how the team was run ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,WRONG...............................His cavalier approach to do as instructed gave me pause and then he played like i can turn on the juice when i feel like it ......Kind of a haughty , condescending personality who liked to hear himself speak ......Some of the presser he gave after practices was filled with kidding around and trying to be the clown in the room........His true nature came through in the end as the last 4-5 games he played lazy and today he looked like he was ready for the season to end....constantly a couple steps slow on defense and his 3 point shooting evaporated completely...........I wish him well in life , but I hope more due diligence is done with other portal players we might be interested in for the future.........
The Illini were 14th out of 14 teams as far as 3 point % in the B$G..................
Some of my frustration is due to having real EVERY DAY players like Trent F. and Damonte W. and Kofi C. and even Alphonzo P. for the short time he was here.......
the season is over .....there were numerous highs and lows in my personal life and my LIFE as an Illini Nation Fanatic.........Somethings I enjoyed immensely and something's broke my heart , BUT I went ALL IN as an Illini Fanatic and I'm way too old to change that and I will NEVER change my love for the UI and all that entails.......
It's hard to se it end , but we are going to field a team next and I will cheer them on , just like I will cheer the lady Illini and next up for me to cheer on is the FB team ............it's the way I'm built .......It really really is .........
Thanks for all the kind words about my personal loss this year and i want to echo what one poster said ....this board is becoming more of family with stuff being discussed that I never have opened up aboot in any other board.....I still have my finger on the ignore button as i feel my family here is something I want to protect as i did when I had a family .......
So ta-ta my friends and have a good weekend as I will be watching a lot of BB this weekend as I know my true friends here will be also....................................

Seriously? We’re still trashing him even post-season? Yeah, you’re right. Him showing confidence and trying to instill some in his teammates in the days before the game is why we lost. Sorry, my bad … you’re not pinning it on him. Got it.Can't pin this entire loss on Hawkins, but man it really sticks in my craw how much he talked before this game about turning heads and shocking people in the tournament. And then we played like this.
I felt coach "caved in" to a player's sensitive nature. Then others refused to go into games. When the player was chucking three pointers and playing hideous defense, BU never really held him accountable. It was hero ball and NIL situations for him. And coach kept putting him out there, so he can chuck more three pointers and play more lackluster defense... I like BU; he has earned the right to continue to be coach, but I hope he learns from this... I hope he looks in that mirror and be true to himself and his style of coaching.
I’ve never disliked an Illini team. And we’ve suffered some shite hoops. Love so many of the underclassmen on this team and hope they come back. Hope we make Coleman an offer he can’t refuse. Other than that… bring on football.Perfectly put.
Honest question, where did this “built for March” stuff come from? Was that something BU said? I can’t say I followed the team particularly closely recently so I’m guessing I missed it.Disappointed with the season. I wish we would have played better team basketball, especially on the offensive end. However, I won't miss hearing the terms "Built for March" and the term "Elite" again this year. Anyone with a rational view and a student of the game knew the season was lost in late December and early January. We never played as a team consistently.
Morbid, but I’ll accept it.It feels like letting a loved one go after suffering a long painful disease. Kind of a sad relief. On to football!
I know. It's frustrating to see so many guys that can do so many things. There's no one on the team that I didn't appreciate was talented and can play. No one on the roster that we wondered why they were here. Guys that when they're playing well and making their best plays look amazing and you can picture them in the NBA. Yet here we are, nine seed in the tournament and out in the first round. We've had less talented teams go further, for sure. Hopefully we can keep a strong base of these guys and they gel next year as a team. Add a couple of nice recruits, and a transfer or two that don't need to play hero ball, baby you got yourself a stew!
I didn't recognize this year's team...We won’t recognize next year’s team
I generally wish the best for those players that move on from the Illini, or at least I did in the pre-portal era. But after this childish BS of taking a break from basketball and the team midseason, then collecting all your NIL, then officially leaving the team when you have received it all, then trying to make yourself the focus when your former team loses in the NCAA, I wouldn't feel too bad about it if some Louisville hooker gives him Herpes Simplex 10 and his pro career highlight is playing for the Azov Aces in eastern Ukraine.…. and the horse he rode in on.
Frustrating to come out of timeouts and at half time and all we get is a 3 point shot. The spread is just not effective in my opinion. There were several plays in the spread where it could work with Shannon and going to his left yet we had a right hander going to the left side. 4 passes around the outside without cuts is not an offense. The game has to be the defense switch in ball screens and back cuts and find the match up you want. Also the cuts we do get in spread have to be for real. We accomplish more from the scissor cuts at the top vs the first 2 cuts on the spread. What I’m praying for is that we don’t recognize next years offense. It was so anemic and filled with hero ball this year, and we ran like a max 4 set plays and almost all of them led to Matt Mayer taking 3s. At least that’s how it felt, correct me if I’m wrong.
I'm not ready to fire Brad like some folks on here, but I haven't felt this bad about the direction of this program since he was hired
It was essentially a rebuild this year, still a 20 win season (4th in a row, mind you), and you feel bad about the direction of the program.I'm not ready to fire Brad like some folks on here, but I haven't felt this bad about the direction of this program since he was hired
I suppose that is so he can say he didn’t enter the portal until our season was over in response to the question of, “Why are you a selfish quitter who quit on your team mid-season as soon as you lost your starting job?”Skyy transferred to louisville and posted on social media the second we lost
Bye, and, well, bye.Bye, and good luck!!
