why would dainja leave he already transferred and Illinois seemed to develop him well. Also why would Epps he was granted starting pg until concussion

From my reading between the lines, I think there were a lot of things that went on internally this year. Essentially, for any guys making the decision to transfer out, may not be strictly due to usage/role/minutes.

IF, and this is a big if; if it's true that Epps purposely, physically bumped into BU during a timeout, then I wouldn't even want him on the team. Lack of respect for the head coach is a program changing event. Now, I didn't see that and I hope to hell it isn't true because I really like Epps, but that would be inexcusable in my book.

Need a point guard period. I love Harris' energy but when he has the ball he looks so out of control. His passing is a little better than bad. If you can't shoot FT's as a guard I don't know how you play major minutes. I think too many people thinks he's going to turn into Trent. I don't see him ever getting close to that. Jayden is a scorer but as pointed out by others, because of his lack of size he get's eaten up by larger guards on D and on O. Statement of the obvious but Luke is the real deal.
For a guy who frustrated the heck out of me in so many games and did so today maybe more than any other, I still would love to see Coleman come back.
You're right definitely need a true point guard but I wouldn't give any flack to Harris - even for FTs. He, Epps, and Rogers are freshmen in the BIGTEN. They I think all three had a solid freshmen year. If they stick together for a couple of years and Goode is a senior with Hansberry and Johnson coming in look out. I won't pretend to know what's going on, but think about Goode and RJ as seniors with Epps, Rogers, and Harris as juniors and Hansberry and Johnson on the squad. In my humble stupid opinion it's more important to recruit the kids that will stay, even if it means we don't have a handful of NBA prospects. Don't get me wrong, I'd love one or two and most of the kids want to see that they have a path and don't blame them, but it's all about chemistry. This year's team showed that. We lost soooooooo much. You just can't make a deep run without chemistry...........and a true PG.

In my opinion Epps would be underwood’s biggest lost.. he was by far the best freshman all year
Rodgers passed him we with regards to our need and value added. Ty progressed significantly. I don't think that Epps was sold on being a better defender. BU simply couldn't keep him on the court. Bigger guards just had their way with him.

Any chance Seth Trimble is a portal candidate?

He averaged less than 10mpg, and the guards ahead of him on the roster (Caleb Love, RJ Davis) don't show up very high on draft projections.

It seemed like he considered us out of HS.

Perhaps the staff is looking for more of a sure thing, but I wouldn't hate grabbing a guy with that much upside AND a few years of remaining eligibility.

I don’t know anything about recruiting, but putting together what I think I’ve learned from this year, when you hit the portal it seems like you might want…

1. Players with more than one year of eligibility so they most likely won’t transfer again and will buy into your culture.

2. DUDES from mid-majors with something to prove. Their mid major success is kinda irrelevant once they step on the high major team, so they have to listen to coaching and buy in because they don’t know what it takes to be successful at the HM level. But you also get the plethora of game experience and confidence that comes from knowing you were good at your last school.

This is not a great take. He was getting screamed obscenities at face to face.

That wasn't a good look by BU. Hopefully he can fix that relationship.
Ayo took it. He’s in the league. Epps tried to ignore it. He’s possibly on his way out the door. While I’m not a big fan of the in your face screaming, I don’t doubt the mountain of frustration Underwood was feeling from MANY of the players not following the plan contributed to that. If players understand the coach is TRYING TO MAKE YOU BETTER, they’ll not take it personally, and listen to the message.

This might have been one of those situations where if Epps showed acknowledgement of some sort, underwood wouldn't have been so over the top. If the player is clearly deflecting everything the coach is saying, the coach is going to double down and in brads case that results in an even more intense reaming. Sort of reminds me why we had so many transfers in Brads early years. A lot of kids don't like being coached tough.

I don’t agree. This team desperately needs a guy that can score and handle the ball, and Epps can do both. Rodgers is a role player in the way Melendez is. If you don’t have Rodgers, you can still plug another similar athlete into his spot and keep the offense going. If you don’t have Epps, then you don’t have anyone else to replace him with. You’re forced to use guys like Hawkins to dribble which leads to even worse offense.

I think losing Epps would be a bad blow for the program.

Would be a bit surprised if Caleb Love has another run with UNC....

Per tarheelblog:
"Online hate and frustration over this season have boiled over, and although every player and coach contributed to Carolina’s shortcomings, most of the dissatisfaction was focused on Caleb. Yesterday, he essentially cleared out his Instagram profile of anything UNC related and closed his Twitter account ...

If Caleb leaves either to turn pro or transfer (there are rumors of Mizzou in the mix, Caleb is from St. Louis) I’ll understand. It’s probably best for all parties involved for him to get a fresh start somewhere else."

I didn't ever see a video like that with Ayo. He seems to be doing just fine with Donovan not handling himself like this.

The 59 yr old in that video should not be red faced screaming obscenities in the 18 yr olds face.

It's not a good look for our program.
