If we're prosecuting body language crimes from this season that doesn't make the top 50.
Yeah. More than one person in that vid with bad body language.

Harrison Ingram will be in the portal soon 🤫 … Have heard Kansas for him but we will be interested …

Jaemyn Brakefield is a name to watch … Ole Miss transfer … Idk if he stays or goes with Beard there but potentially we’d be interested …

There are a few other names the staff is kicking the tires on but not officially in the portal … Ingram has told multiple coaches he’s entering the portal and just waiting on paperwork which is why I am able to say that …
egibility status for jaemyn?

This might have been one of those situations where if Epps showed acknowledgement of some sort, underwood wouldn't have been so over the top. If the player is clearly deflecting everything the coach is saying, the coach is going to double down and in brads case that results in an even more intense reaming. Sort of reminds me why we had so many transfers in Brads early years. A lot of kids don't like being coached tough.
That is why there is a bench. A Time Out if you will for kids. You learn alot on the bench and if your first reaction is to 'chuck it' and quit. Good riddance!! Don't let the door hit you .$$ on the way out. Now BU has to understand one rant like that can destroy the relationship. A mighty costly approach perhaps in the heat of the moment.

I just have to laugh at all of the people mentioning Brad's language and demeanor, chewing players out, etcetera. All coaches do this. Or, at least, the good ones do.

If BU was out of line by the way he's treating players publicly and during games, wouldn't there be some kind of news or story about this by now? There are, however, plenty of news stories about coaches that HAVE crossed the line. I suggest maybe looking those up and reading them to get a frame of reference.

Bunch of snowflakes who've obviously never picked up a basketball before... geezus...
I had my narrow arse chewed out all the time back in the mid to late 60's in HS .....my coach taught me as many curse words as I learned on skid row ( place across the street from the HS where we went to smoke )................I was so happy to play and happy that my coach wanted to help me with my play that the curse words bounced off my chiseled bod like rubber .........OK , maybe I'm embellishing a little there.........I really really might be.....................

(Our Stars that we lived and died by weren’t stars.)

2. Just generally show up…with an modicum of energy and play with the chip on his back that obviously has.

Arkansas was very, very beatable…and we more than had our chances. Even as lackadaisical we played most of the game. We lost by 10 as it was.

I hate this hindsight woulda-coulda-shoulda stuff…but like I said…
if Pods knocks down
half the shots Mayer missed and spreads a little infectious energy around by playing with that chip on his back that he obviously has we win that game.

Podz defense is MUCH improved too. I have no idea what have actually happened. Who knows? But, he just might of gotta ya a steal. He’s not a shot blocking threat like Mayer…but I have to think he doesn’t get burned backdoor multiple times like that… Why? Pride.Chip. Heart. Give a Damn.
I’m sorry but anyone who thinks Podz does anything against this Arkansas team is off their rocker. Were they beatable? Obviously, but a slow, relatively unathletic guard isn’t going to make a difference against them. No matter how much “heart” he has.

Ayo took it. He’s in the league. Epps tried to ignore it. He’s possibly on his way out the door. While I’m not a big fan of the in your face screaming, I don’t doubt the mountain of frustration Underwood was feeling from MANY of the players not following the plan contributed to that. If players understand the coach is TRYING TO MAKE YOU BETTER, they’ll not take it personally, and listen to the message.
But Coach didn't "scream/yell" at all players only visable for a couple of players

First I've seen of Podz with that kind of NBA attention, don't know how realistic that is, but still, LOL

"Slow, unathletic, heart, gym rat, coach on the floor, just wants it more, deceptively fast, fundamentally sound, gets the most from his ability, etc etc etc"

Make shots
@WyattEarp as well, I was only able to quote one.

I think that’s an easy answer but from a scouting report standpoint the way they’re gonna guard Mayer is different than the way they would have guarded Podz. Mayer was broke the last few games and you could afford to make him prove he was gonna hit. He can also be a threat driving with his spin move. Podz is a more consistent shooter and you better believe they would have been body to body with him on the catch. He’s not driving by anybody on Arkansas.

The play harder, tougher, better effort defensively etc is certainly something. I have made my feelings known about Westlake basketball on here before. Podz could maybe have been a system and culture guy. But also, so many are looking at what he did down a level this year, and projecting that he’d be that dude here. Not a chance.

What current nba player does Podz remind anybody of? Seriously curious at responses because for me it’s literally nobody. I want to see what I’m missing.

From the End of The Bench Transfer Speculation segment, I genuinely hope Lieb transfers to a program where he can get 20+ minutes a game. He's going to be successful and he deserves the PT.

Love to see him in our games, love him for competing against Kofi, CoHawk, and Dain every day.

HE is an Everyday Guy.

He played in three games, THREE, against teams that made the tournament. He field goal percentage for those 3 games? 35.8%. That’s not 3pt% that’s straight up fg%. Everyone here saying stuff like what would he have done? “Make shots.” Clearly against competition that is above average, he cannot do that.

I watched precisely zero of Podz' games this year so I don't have a ton of insight, but I think Buddy Hield, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Luke Kennard, that's kinda the idea. Elite shooter, true guard, active and makes a lot of stuff happen.

43.8% from 3, 8.8 rebounds, 1.8 steals is a rare bird, even at a mid-major.

Maybe we get Brad some Xanax? Not like a whole Xanax, just a half of one he can take before the game. That we he can still ream people out, but his face will be a little less red and the volume will be a little less loud.

Lville, I'll start by saying I appreciate your presence/insight on this board. I make it a point to read everything you put down. But you might owe me a soda. While I know nothing about the team dynamics of high-level athletics, I am an Illini fan. To be so is, among other things:
When you get a premonition of a thing happening that you don't want to happen, it's going to happen.
It's watching us with the ball at the big house under 3:00, needing a couple of first downs. But knowing deep in your heart that you'll see some conservative play-calling, a bad break from the zebras (like an obscene holding call on Crisler), and just when you need a solid punt, a 30-yarder. It's the tournament being cancelled when your team has finally qualified after 7 years. It's your most important player contracting pink eye a week before the post-season.
It's my fault for enjoying sports so much - for me, there are few things more delightful than high-fiving your buddies over a table of draft beers and fried foods after your favorite team hits a big shot in an important game. It hurts when I am denied such pleasures because said team rarely gets the opportunity to play in those big games. The paranoia has crept into my brain, entrenching itself with the resolve of 18 years' futility.
With regard to recruiting: poor body language from a player has become triggering for me; 3 consecutive double-digit losses in the tourney has me worried about adverse impact on the UI brand. I am emotionally scarred like those frogs who no longer tried to jump out of the jar even after the lids were removed.
On the other hand, "Hey, there's always next year." I-L-L.

Don't remember which mock this was, but someone else had AirPodz at #25 in an NBA mock draft.

I know it’s not my original question, and correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t all those guys also show out in college at high major schools?

Among the top 100 players in the nation in steals per game, Podz is the 2nd leading rebounder, and among those steals leaders averaging at least 6 rebounds per game (only 7 guys including NBA prospects Jaylen Clark and Kevin McCullar) he's the best outside shooter by a country mile.

I know it’s not my original question, and correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t all those guys also show out in college at high major schools?
They did. But two things

1. Doesn't matter. Demonstrating NBA skills is what matters. Anthony Edwards was terrible on a hopeless Crean-tastic Georgia team and was the #1 pick and an NBA all-star. My favorite example is DeAndre Jordan who made Skyy Clark look like Lucas Johnson in terms of how much he wanted to be there in his one year at Texas A&M and has been not just a great NBA player but a famously dedicated and enthusiastic one. It's not about college.

2. Podz had a really huge statistical season even adjusting for the level of competition.

I know his numbers are inflated due to his role at Santa Clara and the competition they play. And his defense isn't the best.
However, it would have been to have that 46% 3 pt shooting this year.

Okay I’m off my rocker. Settled. Lol. I guess I’d better go find a room with some padded walls somewhere…lol

Well, first off…don’t twist what I said. I didn’t say he was gonna morph into Oscar Robertson. Yes, he’s slower and not super-athletic. That doesn’t mean he can’t shoot, does it? You think Luke Goode is Carl Flippin’ Lewis?
Or Jacob Grandison was Usain Bolt…had he stayed he would have been out there too. Goode is no stellar athletes he was deemed talented enough to grace the court.

Arkansas is high-caliber defensively…and they play with physicality. (They’re lengthy too but we’re actually slightly more so.)
No argument with any of that. But the flippin’ shots were there more often than not and we didn’t even execute as well as we were are capable.

Podz is is not as bad as you’re trying to make him out to be. You can double-down on this narrative all you want. But he’s drastically improved and he has done it against quality competition this season.
He shot %40 from 3. Better than anyone
on our team by a long shot…pun intended.

I don’t think he would have been able to do much off the dribble. So I’m with you there. But to not even say he might of been able to knock down some shots for us is just doubling down on a narrative without being reasonable.
