Agree. Pretty darned critical for his 2024 draft stock. And once he puts in the work this off-season, TSJ needs 8-12 more of the UCLA type games in the upcoming season. He is only going if he gets guaranteed money. Might have been told he's not so go back to school, play off the ball and work on the right hand for next year. No actual knowledge is that has happened but that could be a scenario I could see play out.
I don’t want to be that guy, but has there ever been a player who was as good a week after he left us as he was a week before we heard he might be leaving? Has there ever been a player who didn’t significantly improve in the week after he committed to play for us?
Always be that guy. The world needs more of those guys.I don’t want to be that guy, but has there ever been a player who was as good a week after he left us as he was a week before we heard he might be leaving? Has there ever been a player who didn’t significantly improve in the week after he committed to play for us?
I agree with that. I also feel TSJ needs to improve his ability to pass off the dribble while driving and players help out. He is great attacking the hoop but when guys help out on D he needs to be able to hit the open man fir a better look without turning it over.He is only going if he gets guaranteed money. Like Hawkins, not having a true PG really hurt him. Man if we can get a "" at PG, just imagine what it could unlock in TSJ & Hawkins.I agree with that. Maybe. Last year people were stoked about the versatility and the “interchangeable parts “ we’d have with long athletes like Coleman, Mayer, RJ, etc. I get that but I also think players have to have defined roles too.I think, in terms of skill sets, it was. But then we lost our PG and had chemistry issues. Our roster last season was fantastic but the results were less than the sum of the parts.
That did cause more turnovers but I not referring to that. I am just to when he drove hard. I think him attacking what hurt more was not hitting open threes. If they could hit them at a higher rate then defenders wouldn't help out nearly as often. That said it appeared when he put his head down and drove he was either going to score, get fouled, or turn it over. He didn't pass it much when he put his head down. If could do that more efficiently then wow.Like Hawkins, not having a true PG really hurt him. Man if we can get a "" at PG, just imagine what it could unlock in TSJ & Hawkins.
You have to have perimeter ballhandling and rim protection that are normally provided by true point guards and centers.Maybe. Last year people were stoked about the versatility and the “interchangeable parts “ we’d have with long athletes like Coleman, Mayer, RJ, etc. I get that but I also think players have to have defined roles too.
Notated what though, you gotta have a PG.
I agree teams definitely need a defined PG. The 2-4 spots can be interchangeable, and maybe the 5 as long as you have adequate paint defense.Maybe. You mean like people saying that Podz wasn't that good, he was just playing in a weak mid-major conference? Domask coming from a weak mid-major conference is the answer to our problems?I don’t want to be that guy, but has there ever been a player who was as good a week after he left us as he was a week before we heard he might be leaving? Has there ever been a player who didn’t significantly improve in the week after he committed to play for us?
From a potential standpoint, I think RJ has a higher ceiling while Domask has clearly had better production. No denying that. Really felt like RJ was coming on and was going to be a big producer. But he's gone & I hope Domask does well.I like RJ but I think it is certainly an upgrade. Domask led SIU in Pts. Reb, and assist while being 1st team all conference. I think sometimes just because you may be higher rated out of high school or from a power 5 that means they are better. It may usually but not if the guys all conference.
More like a Grandison."Complete" is the word that springs to mind for Domask.
I'll buy that as an RJ replacement. Sneaky post-up game too, that's a nice club to have in the bag.
name checks outI got the joke and i’m the new guy here…
Yeah not a bad comp at all really. Domansk was more productive at a higher level than Grandison at Holy Cross, but it's that same sort of swiss army knife of a game.More like a Grandison.
Never said he wasn't a good pick-up. Competition level night in and night out in the MVC is nowhere near B1G.Taking what you said into account you should also realize that he was the main focus of every team they played. Their number one goal was to stop him, drawing their best defenders and sometimes double teamed. He still put up good numbers. He is a very good pickup for the Illini.
Yeah, I don’t mind it overall. Likely Grandison a better defender and a little longer, while Domask brings more of a ball-handling and playmaking aspect.Yeah not a bad comp at all really. Domansk was more productive at a higher level, but it's that same sort of swiss army knife of a game.
He also went 4-19 his last two games against Drake. He looked damn good vs Oklahoma St in a win. He has played some tough non conference games and Drake was a good team too.
I'm really not again Domask at all & I hope that he has a great year. Just feels like expectations are really high. You can already feel how divisive of a player Domansk is gonna be lol
I too expected more from RJ this year. That being said often what is viewed as potential are the main athletic traits like jumping, speed, strength etc. But I've known some elite athletes as far those main traits but they were not elite hoopers. Hand eye coordination, agilty, general coordination like the ability to use both hands are often harder to notice. I am not sure if RJ is at that level or not compared to Domask in those aspects. RJ certainly is faster and jump higher but that may not mean he has a higher ceiling. He may but Domask is very good and I wish RJ the best. From a potential standpoint, I think RJ has a higher ceiling while Domask has clearly had better production. No denying that. Really felt like RJ was coming on and was going to be a big producer. But he's gone & I hope Domask does well.
First missed shot or turnover:You can already feel how divisive of a player Domansk is gonna be lol
Did you see those games from the cheap seats?I have seen many of Domask's games the past four years.
Yep, he was the focus to be stopped. We have stopped players before too. Just watch his highlights and he played some very good teams that were better than Drake. He also went 4-19 his last two games against Drake.
