Sounds like I’ll be returning there as well … Work transfer …

Indy name is stuck though … Can’t change it now … Spent almost 20 years of my life in Indy …
You can take the boy out of the State, but you can’t take the State out of the boy. Yep, 21 years in Indiana for me. Never would have guessed that.

They are faces of their programs and still move on. You see guys leave one place to go another...and then leave and go to another... Underwood could turn into Mr Rogers and he would still lose players.

This is a great thing for coaches. They do not have to worry at all about a player's 'feelings' or 'will they want to leave if I don't play them enough' or 'how the player's family react to how I'm using their player' and similar thoughts.

Coaches don't have to worry about 'developing' players long-term, either any more. Coaches can totally concentrate on winning each and every game the best way they know how in the moment without the other side issues. Everyone knows now that players are going to leave and coaches now have a freer hand in handling their rosters and playing time.

Of course, coaches still need to treat players with respect and work to help them become better talents in general. But the in-game approach about how to use players allows all other considerations to be non-factors in coaching to win games, period.

The coaches and the logos will always be the faces of the programs now more so than ever. And that will place an even greater emphasis and arms-race for getting the best coaches and recruiters you can. Everyone in the chain here is going to benefit except for the fans who crave the stability of the old system.

And Mr. Rogers wouldn't be a good coach anyway. He just wants everyone to be his neighbor and friend. Can't coach that way! And most coaches don't look good in sweaters, either.

That's really a shame. Nothing better than going in there for some chili and giant vanilla shake.

Really Decatur has a lot of underrated food places. Krekels and LaGondola being the first two that come to mind.

Why is the process for a kid to get invited to the combine? Do teams have input or does the league say these are the top prospects or some combination
I’m not totally sure but think I read at some point that the league basically puts together the invite list, but teams can request certain players be invited. Not sure how “binding” that request is.

My question is are there rules/limitations to what a team can pay an undrafted rookie? If not couldn’t a top 5 consensus “pick” decline the invitation and thus not go through the draft, and then choose where he wants to go and sign for well more than the typical undrafted rookie? And what happens if a player has/claims to have an injury and can’t participate? I assume these types of things have/will be addressed.

Yes there are but if I lived in CU I would weigh 300 lbs.

OMG! I didn’t realize there was a La Gondola in Decatur, but many moons ago when I lived in the Quad Cities, I ventured to a La Gondola in Kewanee. A simple Google search indicates they are pretty much the same — serving both cinnamon bread and garlic bread (pro tip: order both, screw the calories!)

In the Quad Cities, The Grinders Spaghetti House must also have its roots in La Gondola (or Vice versa) because it’s essentially the same restaurant. I always ordered beef tortellini and both breads. And now I’m desperately craving that meal!

2 of the reasons I would go back and visit someday. Been gone 11 years now, and never really missed it.

Where in Central Illinois? I'm not trying to find out who you are, as I think mysteries make things far more interesting, just curious as I'm from Clinton myself.
Clinton born and bred class of 94. Lived in Urbana and Thomasboro for about 20 yrs, now in Alabama for 3 yrs

The one and only still don't understand how the one in Champaign didn't make it.
I do. They opened too early. Food wasn’t good due to improper training. Worst fries I’ve ever had. And at that location they had to nail it coming out of the gates. And trust me…. I wanted them to succeed. I love those burgers.

I knew AC didn’t have a problem with the yelling. I put that in there more for the anti-yelling crowd. 😉

I guess Martin is at least thinking about trying. Would be interesting. Not familiar with the other schools really. Do they fit what you mentioned earlier about coaches needing to make a splash?
UCF has Johnny Dawkins. That would be a good fit, imo.
