Bigger "what if" for me is, "What if Dee or Luther shoot their average from 3 against UNC?"ESPN did a “biggest college basketball what-ifs of the last 25 years” article. No analysis. Just a list of “what if…” questions.
The Illinois what-if is “what if Jon Scheyer had signed with Illinois?” Which could probably be generalized as “What if Bruce Weber had been able to follow up 2005 with any recruiting wins at all?”
Not much of an article, but here it is:
The 25 biggest 'What ifs' of the past 25 seasons
Gordon Hayward's buzzer-beater. Allan Ray's foul. Billy Donovan's coaching decision. LeBron ... in college? What if all these and more had happened? We'd see a very different sport right now.www.espn.com
Ty, DGL.Sorry I’ve been inactive for awhile.I’m just curious what’s the plan at Point Guard?

yeah it seems really dumb to have a 'what if' article without any alternative history.ESPN did a “biggest college basketball what-ifs of the last 25 years” article. No analysis. Just a list of “what if…” questions.
The Illinois what-if is “what if Jon Scheyer had signed with Illinois?” Which could probably be generalized as “What if Bruce Weber had been able to follow up 2005 with any recruiting wins at all?”

You don’t put Frank in the best ever convo?
His team got screwed that year.I think Frank's legacy would obviously have been much different if we win that game in '01 against Arizona (and if he had played better) - if he was on a Final Four team after winning Big Ten POTY, he would be in that conversation. I hear what you are saying - I still think Frank makes an "all Illini team" not first team, so I agree with your point. We tend to think of the best players on the best teams and his team fell short that year, unfortunately.
89 Team is the best of all-time.Lol, intentionally waiting to read the thread after one month in the off season is pretty entertaining.
Some of you kids and your DWill hot takes are funny. LOVE DWill, arguably the best pure PG in Illini history.
Best player ever?
If we’re picking rec/playground teams and all time ILLINI are the pool, if you don’t pick Nick Anderson with your first pick you are plum crazy.
In fact, do you like only the hottest takes? Do you love only the spiciest debates?
I’ll take the entire 88-89 team with healthy KG, and beat whatever remaining Illini AllStar team you come up with in a 5 or 7 game series every time.
And that’s prolly Ayo, Deron, Frankie, Dee/Harper , and Kofi.
(I’ll maybe skip the 6th man/bench argument that most certainly follows and just get my popcorn to enjoy)
The 88-89 team was the best college bb team I’ve ever seen, not just the best Illini team ever. I’d put them and my $$$ against any CBB team before or since in a 7 game series.
They were absolutely insane when healthy and on.
They were the best in the country with injuries and off nights.
We are not worried about that anymore. For weeks the debate has been who the best Illini PG of all time was. I don’t expect it to be settled anytime soon.Sorry I’ve been inactive for awhile.I’m just curious what’s the plan at Point Guard?
Well, most of us think Ty is going to put an end to the all-time debate this year.We are not worried about that anymore. For weeks the debate has been who the best Illini PG of all time was. I don’t expect it to be settled anytime soon.
Well, DGL was one of the stars of that clip. And don't think he's lacking confidence. I'm really ready for this season.
I'm really getting to like that DGL dude.......I really really am......Well, DGL was one of the stars of that clip. And don't think he's lacking confidence. I'm really ready for this season.
Seeing DGL as a Frosh Belo, spark of energy on offense and maybe a Goode (like Griffin, if Domask is the starter) to charge the offense. Substitute Buck if the defense needs a charge. Many options with the right orange colored glasses.Well, DGL was one of the stars of that clip. And don't think he's lacking confidence. I'm really ready for this season.
I like seeing all of those pick n rolls.. bring back the offense.
Harmon looked rusty on defense.
So DGL is wearing #2, who is #15 and what are the numbers of the other new guys?
Hansberry lookin pretty tall thereFirst full team photo. Nice to see everyone on campus, working hard. And happy birthday to Fletch.
