It’s been 48 hours since the suspension, correct?
Shouldn’t we hear from the Panel soon?

We are now past 48 hours since the suspension. Shouldn’t that special counsel have met by now and announced if they are upholding the suspension?

You have to use hindsight to tell you not to touch a female when they either say no or clearly aren't interested?
From what we know so far this isn’t an accurate depiction of events.

I mean, yes, a college athlete should stay out of bars. And should definitely never touch another person that mistakes them for a football player.

Maybe we need to bring back chaperones, like they used to do in the 1950s.

Enlighten us then. What did happen?
Can you even entertain the scenario that whatever happened was consensual? And the legal loopholes after created this mess? You know nothing of the accuser, but you know TJ at least a little. Even a tiny dose of “innocent until proven guilty” should give you the necessary pause to not post what you’ve posted.

I tuned out of the thread at 9 pm CT last night. Went out of town today and didn’t look at the site. Just got home and sped through 24 hrs of posts.

Learned only two new things:

(1) 0440 believes TSJ might hit the hardwood for us again

(2) solid bourbon recommendations

I’m immensely grateful for both. :illinois:

You sir, are a rare gem on this site. I hope we can share a nice snifter of bourbon some day soon.

It seems to me that the order of events is as follows:
1. TSJ goes to a bar postgame
2. He gets in a convo with a lady friend who correctly surmises that he is an athlete (undetermined for what sport or school)
3. They get handsy, TSJ heads south
4. Some time later, said lady friend begins to regret what happened and/or thinks TSJ might not have been 100% with her
5. Police report is filed, which takes time to get to UIUC DIA.
6. Terrence is suspended while everyone tries to figure out what happened.
7. You are here

Let me know what I missed.

You pretty clearly don't get how this works. They could have been kissing and fondling each other for an hour. At any point she can move from yes to no or interested to not interested.

None of us know. But your "clearly aren't interested" is ludicrous for the assertion and probably ludicrous in reality.

5. TSJ sends some kind of apology by text/chat

6. Charge is filed Dec 5

7. Warrant is issued Dec 27

8. TSJ turns himself in Dec 28

Well for one he was suspended indefinitely as soon as the charges were officially filed….2 do you really think they would play a kid if they didn’t know 100% he was innocent?

Josh said the DIA doesn’t conduct investigations on their own….and you all bought that line? Lol
1) know 100% that he was innocent
2) believe 100% that he was innocent
3) know 100% that he couldn’t be 100% be proven guilty

Is there a likely scenario where he is reinstated for team activities by the panel but remains ineligible for games pending further developments in his court case?

That would seem to be a reasonable first step based on how the incident was framed by Whitman.

If he is reinstated by the panel then he will be playing in games too.

There is a possibility that you missed just about everything because we don't know any of the details. Folks really do not understand how harmful it is when they throw about these "possible scenarios". Just effing stop.

Before anyone gets all pissy, yes, I know this is a message board and throwing out scenarios is "what we do," but that only works for basketball. This thread is talking about a criminal case that has serious consequences on people's lives. There is a big difference between this thread and our normal talks.

I just can't see the panel reinstating him unless both charges are dropped.
If the felony charge is dropped, I think that opens the door for JW to keep his zero tolerance policy in place and let him play. With the misdemeanor charge only, it would be reasonable for them to suspend him for a number of games.

They have a lot more info and evidence than the general public.
From a legal standpoint TSJ will be putting his defense on the table. Anything he says or presented could be used against him.

I don’t see a defense attorney wanting their client to do that unless their defense was solid and it was not just a he said she said
