A ridiculous string of bad luck that hopefully will be evened out in March, no matter how badly we might stumble on the way there. We will be way under-seeded whenever we get back to full strength and health. This is, of course, assuming this is the last of it. What’s next?

Wow. Hope he’s back sometime soon. I had a buddy in college that was fatigued the whole semester when he got mono.
I had mono my last year at UIUC, made it real tough to study all semester, can't imagine playing any sports in that condition. Hope he gets well quicker than I did.

'course that was many moons ago, I assume they have effective treatments now, they had nothing for me way back then.

I ended up dropping out with mono. Illinois had no equivalent of sick leave and I ended up in bed needing an IV for a week or so. Got back the next semester and was happy to get through a minimum class load sleeping 12 hours a night and under doctors orders against heavy physical exertion and no drinking as mono stresses the liver and spleen. Basically took me a year to really recover. Hopefully Tommy's experience is better. But mono is kinda of like covid. Everyone will get it some point in their lives. Levels some people and others think they had a 24 hour cold bug if they notice it at all.

Mono is about the worst thing you can get as a college athlete outside of tearing a ligament or breaking a bone.

I would not expect him back till at the earliest the Big 10 tourney

Can someone more versed in X's and O's explain why Ben seems to disappear in certain games?

Surely he has the talent to put up a better stat line than Goode (no disrespect).
Teams realize he’s a stand alone shooter. He doesn’t create his own shot and he doesn’t move without the ball. Don’t give him any room and he never has time to get his shot off

Wow, talk about an over-reaction.
It’s not an over reaction.

We just lost by 21 to Maryland at home and the game wasn’t even that close. They dominated us in the paint. 62 POINTS in the paint.

We already lost to NW. I don’t see a world where we beat NW with the bigs we have. KJ can’t do this on his own and right now, there is ZERO help.

The season is officially on life support now. We are going to lose every game that Tomi doesn’t play in. This is on Brad for not making sure we have proper big men depth.

What’s crazy to me is that his whole pitch last year was “get old and stay old” he makes the elite 8 and then goes and gets his youngest team ever… makes zero sense to me and it might cost us making the tournament all together at this point.

Reminder we have lost 3 of 4.

At some point we have to win, moral victories and close loses don’t get us into the tournament.

The excuses have to stop.. but that is all we are hearing the last 2 weeks are excuses of why the team isn’t winning versus just going and playing hard and earning the wins.

This team, because of their youth, is very inconsistent. This has the feeling of 21-22 team. Gonna lose in the first round of the B1G as the 5th seed and NCAA as a 8 seed to a 9’seed.

I wonder who his roommate is? He could be next 😞

Who knows when he'll be back and how effective. I had already thought about a starting lineup of tomi, white, dgl, Dylan, and KJ. Now that idea makes even more sense.

I mean yes, but Morez was awful against Maryland. Reese completely took Morez out of the game offensively and defensively (and rebounding). He has to play better.
So no Tomi tomorrow. I wish we had another big man like Dain or Summerville from Peoria I'm watching Summerville now play for Rutgers. Did we even offer Summerville? We could use a 3rd 5 man with some physicality to him this year. Only beef we have down low is Morez and he is a little undersized vs some of these guys.

I could use a case or 2 of that. Wish I could take it off Tomis hands.

Mono is EXTREMELY contagious. How far does this go within the team? Those people who were trying to say that this was still strep throat after 7 days of antibiotics were insane.

So explain what is wrong with the argument, as a fan.. I don't want it to be true, but willing to listen to the other side.

I mean, USC we weren't suppose to lose right? NW, we weren't suppose to lose right? Maryland, we weren't suppose to lose right?

Is there something I am missing? Unless everyone believes KJ can do this on his own, because it was obvious that the offense runs through both KJ and Tomi.. We become much easier to guard and score against without our 7'1 big man..

Okay??? So then why do you even bother to come on here and type a 10 paragraph excerpt of such?

I caught it many years ago in college. I was told no strenuous exercise for at least 6 weeks. Felt like sleeping all day.

We really need Ben, Morez, and Booth to step up while Tomi heals. Hopefully, Booth's experience as a starter at ND can help him show us something more than we have seen so far. Booth did have a couple good plays last game and could build on that and his experiences. He does have skill, ability, and length so we really need him to apply it asap! The physicality of the NW forwards concerns me.
