Hummer is far from perfect but the hate he gets is insane on here. Tomi had an all time stinker tonight, Hummer actually did some good things in the midrange and defended pretty well. Way more problems than just him right now.
Defensive game plan was worse than anything a player could do...

We scored ZERO points in the last 8:30 i've LITERALLY never seen that happen to ANY other team and I've been watch CBB for decades. It's HISTORICALLY BAD and the team must be completely demoralized right now.
Zentrails!! Holy smokes

This is what ticks me off the most !!!!!!!!

I want Brad to own this 💩

Admit Tyler and Hamer aren’t getting it done

Admit he screwed up in recruiting Ben, Tre, Booth …

Admit he didn’t make adjustments !!!!!

Just own it !!!!!!!!
A lot of things that frustrate, but this is tops for sure. It speaks to a program-level complacency that goes beyond any missed judgment call on a player or players. Will Brad make the tough call when it comes to his own kid? If not, where are we headed?

Can anybody remind me why TA left? If it had anything to do with BU’s affection for Tyler/Hamer……

Is what it is at this point. Team has some great pieces but just too inconsistent with youth right now. Just gotta hope we get hot in the tourney (worse teams have). Need to win probably 2 more regular season and one BTT game to stay out of the 8-9 game

It's the amount of time he's given- and he's paid large amounts of money to shoot 3's and he went 0-6 and missed some HUGE baskets at key times. He deserves every ounce of hate he gets. Oh and he gave up countless offensive rebounds to MSU (Kohler).

And yes, Tomi was terrible tonight. I agree with that.

We legitimately need a hired gun (and possibly on the spectrum) Matthew Mayer type to come out in post game and criticize our game plan.

He actually had the balls to say it and changes were made for the better.

Is last years team more of a one off and Underwood is once again underachieving?
Get off the ledge. His top 4 producers are freshmen. He put an entirely new roster together on the fly made up of primarily young guys. If there's an underachievement, it's the current assistant coaches turnover because players and continuity are heading out the door with them.

This is my issue … Everyone says oh it ain’t the coaches missing shots …

It’s not … But it is them not putting players in position to succeed and make shots …
It's not that complicated... look at Minnesota, we shot 9-16... tonight we shot 7-33. We shot 17 more 3's and made 2 less. It's all about the quality of shot and how you get it. In Minnesota and even UCLA, we got great 3 point shots by going inside out, ball movement, skip passes, attacking the rim and kicking it out, etc.. We took smart, high percentage 3's.

Look at most of our shots tonight. Even the "wide" open one's Brad is talking about weren't in the same type of rhythm that we had in previous games. We literally shouldn't shoot more than 20 3's per game, period.

Everyone needs to watch that press conference.

Loved Josh before, love him more after watching. Laughed at “spirited conversations”.

Want to be measured on overreaction to Brad, but his comments were extremely disappointing. Blaming the players, especially with two timeouts in his pocket, is poor form. Smirking as KJ took the blame to basically back up his coach’s statements that it was the players’ fault, was bordering on despicable.

I believe the Illini can be great under Brad when they have high-character, experienced leaders wearing the jersey. That doesn’t seem to be a role the coaching staff is interested in owning.
That is despicable. Underwood should have made adjustments before the game got out of hand. Demanded his players return to driving ball to the hoop to get layups, collect fouls or have an easy pass off assist for a high percentage bucket. (Boswell, DGL, JK, Riley, Tre can all drive and Tomi can pass well for a big). Keep driving the ball and get fouled 80-90% of time in late 2nd half, unless a wide open shooter had a shot they could take in rhythm.

You're pissed about tonight and because of that, you're belittling the achievements(Big Ten Tournament Championship and Elite 8) of last year's kids?

Man, go to be, get a good night's sleep and get back to bringing your normally great content because right now, your takes are awful and demeaning to every kid in that roster.

Hammer back the last shot, pop some preemptive Tylenol and get a Gatorade. You'll be fine in a few hours.

3/10 vs 2/9 shooting. Difference is Tomi has shown more than once this season that he’s a B1G caliber player

Edit: and defensively has Hummer shown anything positive that hasn’t been a result of simply being larger than their 3?

If that’s the case (and I don’t think that’s the full story), then it’s horrendous coaching. He’s 1000 times better defender than just about everybody but Boswell. And on a night where they couldn’t stop my daughters team, that’s not a good enough reason to not play him.

Just like Weber milking a decade after catching lighting in a bottle with Selfs team.

We were so gassed man.

Short rotation. Tomi banged up. Morez face planted after getting a block. Boswell was bleeding from his eye after getting coldcocked.

Not trying to be overly dramatic, but, if Underwood or his agent have the balls to approach Whitman with another job offer\contract negotiation tactic at this point they should get laughed out of town. This is a point in time of slipping back to a mediocre program or separating your university from the competition. The fact of Izzo setting a record in our house in complete meltdown mode is inexcusable! As a 40 + year fan, this ranks with Weber's post game throwing players under the bus and Groce's ladder climbing bullsh!t. Time for changes.

I missed the game

Reviewing scoring chart and think I am reading wrong...it shows an epic Illini scoring crash/drought at end?

shows our last points were at the 8:32 mark left in 2d half (ben jumper giving us a 65 to 64 lead)....and MSU finished on a 15 -0 run....

..that can't be right??? If so an Epic crash finish for us:(
You are correct. Whatever chart you are reviewing is incorrect. We actually won the game. Now you are the winner of a good night’s sleep, unlike the rest of us. Dont think about the game again until morning. Trust me, you’ll thank me.

We have 1 more game we can lose before we start thinking about playing on the first day of the BIG tournament. Can not lose 2 more.

At Wisky is probably a win. Why? Because this team plays better on the road than at home. I think, Michigan, PU, are losses at home. The Wisky win on the road is what will cause us to make the NCAA.

However, we are in serious trouble and are capable of losing the rest of the remaining games this season. If Iowa has a chance to beat us.

This might be the biggest bust of a season in Illini history if this path illuminates.

Ps. I wouldn’t be shocked if we beat duke in Madison. We have a pretty good record in the garden recently.
