scheyer was announced a year before K retired and was a player and an asst under K at that same school.
davis played at unc, and while he didn’t play under williams he was an asst there for 9 years. davis also had a decent nba career, which helped his cause (even if it didn’t help others’ failures, ewing, mullins, drexler, etc.)
Thats fine. When Frazier succeeds at a mid major and then his stock is too high for West Virginia, they'll have missed their chance. West Virginia basketball isn't exaclty the sexiest college basketball job. Power conference or not.

Zero clue if there is any truth we here, but crazy.

If Willard leaving Maryland is true and he used the "Christmas in New York" thing as a smokescreen to make Maryland look bad on his way out, it's a total d**k move and makes me not respect him even more. I realize we aren't exactly dealing with paragons of virtue in this profession on some occasions, but that move does not sit well with me at all.

Until we see what happens to Ben, Booth, Ty, Dra, Jake Davis, and Jason we don't need to add more role players. If we want great results we should want great transfers, not "meh they take minutes" guys, when we currently have too many.

Harris is likely a 6th or 7th man on a good team. Hansberry can be a lot more.

Willard showing his true colors. He's like school on a Sunday....

Seems like he could have done better than that. Penn hasn’t been relevant in basketball for quite some time, even if those stretches were pretty good. Does he have any connections / history there? Maybe just wants a lower pressure job?

Edit: I see he is a Wharton grad, and played there. Still seems an odd choice.

It's called a nice landing spot before he decides to retire.

VCU's Ryan Odom, who beat Virginia as a 16 seed with UMBC so famously, has taken over as Head Coach at Virginia.

That is the SIXTH consecutive VCU coach to leave for a high-major job, all since 2006.

Jeff Capel to Oklahoma
Anthony Grant to Alabama
Shaka Smart to Texas
Will Wade to LSU
Mike Rhoades to Penn State
Ryan Odom to Virginia

Pretty sure no school has a stepping-stone record anywhere close to that, that's extremely impressive in its way.

Can someone catch me up on the Willard stuff? I know he said publicly there was things he believed needed to change in the athletic department. But this seems to go back and forth several times now about him to Nova. Is he leaving today? After the tournament? How do his players feel about it?

I’d still give it to Tulsa’s run of losing 4 coaches in 7 years from 95-01.

Tubby Smith to Georgia
Steve Robinson to Florida St
Bill Self to Illinois
Buzz Peterson to Tennessee.

Average stay, 2.5 years, 2 of them eventually won Nattys.

Assuming we keep the majority of the core players and role players, the portal needs 1-2 gamechangers. I feel like we have the supporting players all set. We really need a couple of players who will step in and take the team to a different level.

(I get it - pretty much every team is going to say this. But on the spectrum of "Ben Humrichous to Terrence Shannon Jr", the additions need to be a lot closer to TSJ. Domask would be a floor comparison for the type of impact the incoming player(s) would need to bring. Also, I understand if this post moves to the recruiting thread.)
