Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread (July-August 2017)

Agreed, but having no swagger is a real problem as we've seen the last 10 years. Talk is cheap, so we'll see what happens the next couple seasons with Underwood. To get back to the late 90's/early 2000's and having a team carry themselves like those teams did would be fantastic. I feel the...

Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread (July-August 2017)

All the more reason Illinois recruiting shouldn't focus solely on the state of Illinois. I feel the current staff is setup to succeed locally and nationally. I think Illinois will be fine. As Underwood has referred to in interviews, Illinois needs to get its swagger back.

    Illini Football 2017

I agree. So much hinges on Crouch too. If he can stay healthy and be a duel threat similar/better than ROT was, then I think there is a real chance to challenge for 6 wins.

    Illini All-Star Simulation

Frank Williams $2 Kendall Gill $4 Eddie Johnson $3 Brian Cook $4 Meyers Leonard $2 I want length to defend in the post with Cook and Leonard. Cook can stretch the floor and I like having Frank for $2, they're so versatile. Gill and Johnson can shoot and provide good defense / length on the...

    Jalen Coleman-Lands to transfer

You'll have to wait longer than that, he won't be eligible until the 18-19 season.

If that's the case, get 1-2 freshman, then fill the other 2-3 with 5th yr transfers. Then with Antigua leading the way get a monster class next year. Risky, but might be the play instead of scrambling to fill all the spots with freshman this year.

QB Dwayne Lawson transferring to Illinois

McGee's system fits Bailey's skillset, look no further than how he played at UNI after he transferred. The kid has talent to perform in a dual threat role from the QB position, which he did really well at UNI.

    Memorial Stadium Renovation

Illinois needs facilities for the players first and foremost. That is what will help drive getting better recruits to sign up with Lovie. If donor/fan areas are part of it, so be it, but the stadium upgrades and facilities need blow away the recruits and their families. I get selling to...

    The Illinois Coaching Search

I agree. I was simply providing a university document, which allows for people to make those decisions. This isn't a big hurdle or hoop to navigate. It's pretty cut/dry if you ask me. edit: I would say hiring practices are "real world". They're in place for many reasons.

    The Illinois Coaching Search

http://diversity.illinois.edu/NewSearchManual/search_guidelines_and_procedures.pdf I believe this pdf addresses how they can circumvent the waiting/posting period requirement. Chapter 1 discusses different scenarios for hiring. Scroll to Chapter 1.2, in the opening paragraph it discusses...

Sternquist was hired by Lovie. You might be thinking of Pat Embleton, he was a holdover.

    Illinois Football Recruiting Thread

My understanding is the "Dead Period" that is still in effect is no in person contact, even if the recruit is on campus. It doesn't restrict correspondence (letters, email, social media, phone). There are multiple ways and reasons a recruit could change his mind during this period, imo...
