Lunardi bumped us up to a 4 seed. I still think we are going to end up a 3 in the end, but 4 seems about right based on the current body of work. I can't believe I just posted a Lunardi article without whining about it.

No matter where we end up, hopefully they keep us in the Midwest/Chicago region

For you conspiracy theorists out there, notice we have the "aq" next to our name. When we are alone leading the conference we get the "aq." When we are tied and there's a team seeded higher, they get the "aq." He does this every single time he posts these things for every single conference since he started making brackets a million years ago.

Lol. I worded this poorly. I just wonder with the War they’ve adapted schedules because of covid. Im shocked they don’t play a round and then make sure the top teams get each other twice. So the second half of the schedule could be influx. Maybe it isn’t possible. Lol
It's an interesting idea, but television wouldn't allow for it. They want to know the match ups to promote to get the most eyeballs/money.

The schools also need to have things set far in advance so they can handle travel and accommodations. They tend to travel with a lot of stuff, so the last minute change for the second half of the schedule would be a nightmare
Right, I know it would present some challenges. But, with these super conferences, I think it would give you a more, true champion.

You're assuming that's what people want. It might be what fans want, but what conferences want is dollars. That's controlled by television. It won't change.

Also, despite wanting it, the needs of students need to be considered. They do have academic responsibilities. They need to have a planned schedule to fit all that, too. We can't all be UNC and rig it

Love this bracket! Hope the final/March version looks similar. Would be great to play near our fan base!

With that said, I'd still rather swap with Auburn and take the #1 seed..

I'm thinking we'll be 11 or 12. We beat two Top 25 (at the time) NET teams, including 1 on the road by decent amounts. We should be a solid 3 seed in the eyes of the committee at this point

Biggest problem I see with Illinois being a solid 3 seed, is that even if you rate them above Wisconsin now (and I'm not sure their results allow that yet), which of the following teams would you rate Illinois above right now?

Gonzaga, Houston, Arizona, UCLA, Purdue, Duke, Baylor, Kansas, Texas Tech, Auburn, Kentucky, Villanova

We have more Q1 opportunities than most of those teams going forward. We take care of business, I like our chances.

That game got me fired up. The road to a one seed begins.

Auburn almost lost and that would've been huge. But we still can root for Purdue, Kentucky, Arizona, Gonzaga, and Duke to lose today. All of them have pretty tough games.

I don't know. I think the only way we sniff a 1 seed is if we win the B1G regular season ANd tournament AND beat Purdue at least once along the way.

Otherwise, I feel like our realistic ceiling is a 2 and most likely outcome is a 3.

I like the idea of a 3 seed. Seems like a very reasonable goal. But a 2 is entirely possible.

Is this current or how you think they will end up? lol 2 completely different things...
I think you could probably make an argument currently. Not necessarily a slam dunk, but at least a legitimate debate.

I'll agree with legitimate debate because it is close. I just think the top shelf wins so far make the difference. We do have more chances at those down the stretch than those other 4 do tho.

Sure, but we've collected several of those lately. And all we have to pass is one of them to be in the top 12.

This may just be a different way of saying the same thing, but with games at PU and Sparty, and vs OSU plus the BTT, we have opportunities to move up that high. I don’t think we win them all, but if we did is our resume really appreciably different than last year’s team? I think it’s pretty comparable right now to this point last year. We didn’t beat anyone very good early. Just a Duke team that turned out to be very average.
