If Illini win out they will be B10 champs.

Illini will be 0.5 games ahead in the classic w/l measure and behind 0.032 in win%, with the head to head advantage.

They’ll be co-champs at worst in that scenario, and possibly solo champs due to head to head win @ Michigan. Anything less would be a travesty.

and they really want Garza to be the NPOY... Even though AYO is the clear cut choice based on over all

We are not the same team that lost to OSU in Champaign. Not at all. Us winning out does not seem as daunting to me after watching that Michigan game. That Dickinson character has to try to move Kofi? Yeah, good luck with that.
Let's not get carried away here...we beat Indiana in OT, nearly lost to Nebraska in OT, and Northwestern was down to the wire. We beat a Minn team that was hobbled. Mich and OSU just played a National Championship caliber game. We have a undersized, inconsistent 4, and a loose cannon as a first guard off the bench. If we play our "A" game, and Mich or OSU play their "A" game, they win. They are more talented. We are good, but we need to elevate our game to win against either of these teams. Mich has one loss all year, and btw, OSU isn't the same team that beat us earlier either-they are better and were coming off a 7 game win streak I believe. That Dickinson "character" is going to be a great basketball player, already exceptional.

Wish there was a thumb down button. No.

Michigan a very good team and played an excellent game today but I like most of our matchups. Trent can stop Smith and Dickinson is going to be neutralized by Kofi. Think we will have an answer for Wagner. Livers dangerous but think Ayo can guard him. Brown tough matchup for us. What is tough to judge is quickness but thought OSU was quick and Michigan handled them. We will need to beat them on the fast break and maybe get them in foul trouble.
Will be interesting to see if Garza dominates Dickinson.

Dickinson is overrated. Have you seen how he runs down the court in transition with his arms stiff and pointed at the ground. A true baller would never do that.

Per possession standings going into the last 2 weeks:

Michigan...still good. Interesting separation going on among the top 4, but all still leagues better than anyone else. Maryland trying to jump into the second tier of teams with safe bids, but not there yet. Probably passed Minnesota now in the pecking order, though.

Illinois has Michigan State, Nebraska and Wisconsin coming up this week for quite a busy week. None of the 3 teams is above average offensively, so play the defense they should play and they should be able to handle each game.

In regards to the OSU-Michigan game today, Michigan posted the most efficient offensive effort of any team this season at 1.37 PPP (beats Illinois winning at PSU, which was 1.36). Ohio State, though, posted the 5th most efficient offensive effort of the season at 1.30 (Illinois yesterday vs Minnesota was 1.27). Lot of efficient scoring going on today.

Illinois has been a better team than Ohio State over the course of the conference season and the overall season going by adjusted team efficiency, or per possession statistics. Michigan has been better, of course, but the gap between them is not some insurmountable wall that you seem to think it is. Against any non-Iowa B1G team, Illinois is going to have the 2 best players on the floor in any given matchup, which is a built in talent advantage.

You know what would be nice is if (since the BIG is going to let scUM play less games than everyone else including MSU and Nebby who also both shut down), why not cancel our home date with Nebraska and have scUM come to Champaign? If they could work that out you would for sure have a true league champion. Of course, it is ok if Nebby and MD play back to back or us every other day, but the great scUM never!!! They must have extra time :).
They really are good I agree.

Also, Walker for OSU didn't play in the first game against us. He had 15 today.

You are probably right, but the league announcing how it will determine a regular season champion will only be a debacle if they change the rule to benefit one team, e.g. OSU in football. Waiting to announce the rules until the games have been played will make it look like they are setting the rules to reach a certain result and crown a certain team. I think they should state the rules and then apply them, no matter the outcome.
Oh, absolutely. I've been ranting on here for several weeks now about how the league needs to announce this information ASAP. We're entering the final two weeks now. As far as I'm concerned, they've already delayed too long. We are very much on course for another debacle (the perception that they set rules to crown a champ of their choosing after the fact will be rightly seen as one).

Those EM numbers aren't quite adding up. How is scUM .03 ahead of us in margin if they are only .01 ahead in Offensive efficiency and we have the same defensive rating?

Should be UM 0.16. UI 0.15.

Edit: Some of the other EMs are also slightly off.

This is a ridiculous statement, IMO....

"If we play our "A" game, and Mich or OSU play their "A" game, they win. They are more talented."

Per possession standings, now to 3 decimal points to more easily explain the rounding issues that made the EMs look off for 2 decimal places:

Michigan still has the best defense in the B1G, by .008 points per possession (about 1 point every 2 games...it's close). Illinois' offense has slipped behind Michigan as a result of today's game (Again, Michigan has the most efficient offensive game of any team this year today), with now Iowa far ahead offensively, Ohio State second, Michigan third, Illinois fourth.

I couldn’t disagree with this more. Our individual talent level is extremely high, though we are missing a 4. Ohio st beat us by scheming us. Kofi is learning by leaps and bounds (ie dunking it ALL the time now). He’s not going to get burned again by being pulled out of the lane by Liddell. Think of it this way, Liddell is going to have to stop Kofi...from dunking it. Also, Grandson has really helped at the 3/4 position. We’ve won all 7 games he’s started.

From what I saw in today’s M/OSU, there are a lot of matchup advantages for us especially if we play a fast-paced gun-slinging type game we did on sat.

When we play tempo (and don't turn over) we're a nightmare matchup. Unfortunately the "don't turn over" is a big x-factor.
