He's brutal. He clearly has zero appreciation for math and statistics. If he only did this when Q and Sale were on the mound, I could at least make the argument that he's thinking. But he did that stuff even when Danks was on the mound when one run would mean far less.

He has a robust appreciation for giving away outs, that's for sure. Don't even get me started on continuing to hit Rollins second :hand:

Lowest swing & miss rate this season on fastballs in MLB

1. Ricky Nolasco
2. Mat Latos

.....

3. John Danks

Anybody got any impression as to how/whether Rick Renteria is helping things as bench coach?

I thought he did a really good job with the Cubs in 2014 and would love to see him get another shot as a MLB manager.

He and Navarro (one of the few bright spots from the 2013 Cubs) are almost enough to make me root for the Sox.

I'm pretty naive (ok, completely naive) when it comes to a bench coach's contribution, but this article from a few days ago is positive regarding Renteria.

Small sample size, but I have to say, Avi's approach at the plate has been pretty good lately. Not swinging at garbage like he used to.

Joel, bud...gonna have to start? You've been missing out! Last night's game, to me, was a perfect example of comparing last years team with this years. Last year? Another game in the L column. Granted, the pen "failed" in the 8th and 9th, but only to the point of the Rangers tyig the game, not giving up 2, or 3, or 4 runs. Then they clamped down in extras. What I didn't understand on Texas's part was intentionally walking Abreu in the 12th to load 'em up and get to Frazier. Granted, Abreu has been swinging a hot bat as of late, but he was 0-5 for the night, hadn't hit anything hard, whereas Frazier was 3-5 with a homer and hard hit double...oh well, guess they knew what they were doing...

A similar strategy worked for the cubs against the Nats. The difference of course being that at this point in their careers, Frazier is a better hitter than Zimmerman.

Same laundry list of managerial gaffes as last year though...White Sox twitter was losing their minds.

Speaking of, what the hell is the purpose of Jerry Sands? I wish they could have done a statcast of his drunken routs in LF. Wouldn't you want your fourth outfielder being a valuable defensive sub?

And yet, we are 23-10 despite the Ventura and co's best efforts to make us bad. Unbelievable.

What a game to get back into it! lol

Was that an outlier or does the Sox' pen really suck?

Prior to tonight, I think the Sox pen was near the top of the league by most conventional statistics.

Rodon though - I'm worried about. His command has been bad for about a month.

I had a bad feeling about last night's game. When the delay came after 2, I really hoped the damn thing would've been rained out. Even when we were up 11-6, I didn't feel comfortable.

I'm just glad we have an early game today (so what if the boys didn't get all their beauty sleep, happens to all of us!), get back out there and put that meltdown behind us! And I agree with you Bailey, regarding Rodon. Getting behind in counts because of lack of command is not a good thing...

If a 6 run lead, with 3 innings left isn't comfortable, (or 5 with 2) I better stop watching.

Turn on the game and immediately Frazier busts up his mouth. Then Fielder doubles, next guy walks. Think I'm better off not watching.

Is Frazier going to be out for a significant amount of time you think? I can't see the game I'm at work. Just turned on Gamecast and see that he has been replaced in this game.

No... Hawk was so worried about him he literally left the booth mid inning and went to the locker room to check on him (I'm not kidding).

Said going to be ok... teeth may have cut through lip.

But don't think anything more serious (ie broken jaw).

Just saw he need stitches and is day to day.

Joel, it was just a feeling I had about last night...can't explain it. Watching this aft, Frazier got the hell out of the stands, glove over the mouth, and hustled to the dugout and down the steps. 5 stitches in the lower lip. Betcha he's back on Friday, glad for a travel day tomorrow.

Now we need a run to tie! Let's go, boys!
