Speaking of TCM, today I watched "Attack of the 50-foot Woman" for the umpteenth time. What a classic!

But seriously, I'll be following Hardy and Meyer and all Illini from here on out.

Coach is not having such a great PGA Professional so far; that can change.

I mentioned Sam Snead earlier.

It was 1974 PGA: he shot a 68 at age 62 to finish 3rd, three strokes behind Trevino.

Also, at 79 Quad Cities Open he was youngest player ever to shoot his age: age 67, shot a 66. Wow! And he's got other records.

Watson's performance at Open a few years ago was equally impressive.

A couple of guys in the British Amateur:

Incoming freshman Adrien Dumont de Chassart struggled in the first round with an 81, but followed up with a 71 in the 2nd round. Still not enough to make match play.

Baumgarten also went 81-71 as well.

Gio Taddiotto went 77-78, missing the match play cut as well.

Just the three of them? O'Reilly, Armbrust and Kuhl?

Kuhl only 7 strokes out of the lead. Not insurmountable.

No, Chopra and Gillard are there too. Gillard was -1 when I originally posted but looks like he went in the tank on holes 7-9.

Big congrats to Nick on making the cut in his first Tour event as a pro! Hopefully he can keep the momentum going into the weekend. Tough break for Dylan and D.A.

Pieters and Detry are both in contention in Europe. Langley is T8 and Guthrie squeaked by in Wichita in the web.com tour. Add that to Stricker and Coach mentioned above - solid weekend so far!

Langley is pretty much a shoe in to get his full tour card back now. Hopefully, Guthrie can find his game again as well.

Nick at -3 after third round, only one shot behind Koepka! but several strokes out of the lead.

Here's some info:

Most of you Illini golf fans already know you can access Illini golf info at U of Illinois golf website.

But for those who don't, all you have to do is get on the site, click on "more" to the right of screen and click "record book". You'll find what used to be called a "media guide" full of info.

Stumbled upon this (while researching Downers Grove Golf Club, the original Chicago Golf Club).:

The friedegg. com run by one Andy Johnson somewhere in Chicagoland. But the site is devoted to golf anywhere and everywhere, pro and amateur alike. Has podcast of Hardy and Meyer, reviews of golf courses, including a review (negative about playabilty)) of Rich Harvest Farms, and lots more.

You can sign up for its email newsletter . No charge - at least they didn't ask me for money.
Not yet anyway.

Check it out.

P.S. DG has 4 or 5 holes that are somewhat the same as when Charles MacDonald designed them circa 1892.

Waiting for American Family coverage and that orange block I on Small's shirt.

Announcers rightly said yesterday that he has coached multiple Illini Big 10 champion teams. But what a feat to think Illini have been in Final Four so often in recent memory.

Hardy fell back in the final round but still cashed for almost $15k in his first tour event.

Coach Small with a second straight Champions Tour top 10 and makes $42k.

Stricker with a T3 and $120k, 5th in Schwab Cup with only 6 starts.

I must've missed this last week, but Dylan was given a sponsor exemption for the John Deere Classic after his U.S. Open performance, which means he'll play in 4 tour events in 5 weeks! Here's the latest schedule:

6/28-7/1: Dylan plays in Quicken Loans National (DC), w/ D.A. Points
6/28-7/1: Nick plays in Lincoln Land Charity (Springfiled), w/ Langley, Guthrie and Campbell
7/5-7/8: Neither scheduled (unless they qualify by other means)
7/12-7/15: Dylan and Nick play in John Deere Classic. There's a good chance D.A. and Stricker play as well (Stricker won 3 years in a row).

I couldn't find anything past that, but there's always a chance they get in through exemptions or qualifying for future events.

Also, Dylan's U.S. Open performance gave him 46 "non-member Fedex cup points." I've been trying to read up on this, so from what I understand if you have enough points that you would've made the top 200, you qualify for the Web.com Finals in August/September with 25 PGA Tour cards up for grabs. Dylan currently ranks around 197th, which is REALLY impressive considering many of these guys have been collecting points since last fall (#200 is Mackenzie Hughes with 44 points earned in 22 events. Dylan has only played 3 events). He will need another strong finish or two to stay in the top 200, but he definitely has a shot.

Nick only got 4 points last weekend, so he has more work to do. The other way into the Web.com Finals is to finish Top 75 in Web.com money earned, so he might try to get into more Web.com events instead. Here's a link to the non-member Fedex Cup points:

Best of luck to all Illini this weekend!

Maybe I'll grab the kids and head down to Springfield either Sat or Sun to watch the web.com tour.

I've been wondering what happened to Charlie Danielson.

According to Wisconsin.golf, he'll have knee surgery July 3.

The article says he's had problems since 7th grade and even had surgery way back then.

He attributes bad knees to growth spurts, genetics, among other reasons. And past six months has been trying to find alternatives to surgery.

Hope to see him back next season and better than ever.

Didn't he win some violin competition with the devil in Georgia or something?

Thanks for the update, I was also wondering what happened to Charlie. Hopefully he has a successful surgery and finds his way back to the course soon enough!
