Yes, RHF is the home course of NIU and they were the tourney hosts. They provided A LOT of staff and organization to make the two weeks come off smoothly in the face of pretty lousy weather.
That doesn't change the point made above by OleoLeahy, however, that Hardy and Meyer had played there quite a few times and knew the course well. Also that Illinois had a big turnout (Northwestern did also, by the way, for the ladies) I didn't know that before his post, but it doesn't surprise, given where Hardy in particular hails from.
There is no comparison between that and the home course advantage that Oregon enjoyed the year they won.
Not only did Oregon play on their home course, but the player who clinched both the semifinal match and championship match grew up in Eugene. His mother is a professor at the University of Oregon and that was actually the course he had been playing his entire life, so he knew it better than anyone -- except his coach, Casey Martin, is also a Eugene native who played at Oregon.
So you had both a player and a coach who were playing for the national championship on a course they had played regularly their entire lives. That is as big of a home course advantage as a team could possibly have.
