You realize he played in the smallest school class in Michigan, right? Look at his highlights and its him, his teammate Eke and a bunch of short white guys. It's almost amazing he didn't score more than 14 points per game.

Ultimately, he will determine if he plays this year, if he's ready, he'll play, as you point out the bar will be low and he will be needed. I just have a hard time believing a small school big, who just started playing basketball a few years ago that we stole from UIC is going to be ready for Big Ten ball, but I hope I'm wrong.

He seems like a great kid that is willing to work hard, so I'm glad we got him!

Not according to an article I read last night, it said they play in the toughest conference and class in Michigan. Just that his school, prior to him and Ike, have been traditionally bad at basketball.

I didn't just watch highlights I took the time to watch a lot of his games from his SR year, If you would take the time to watch more then just highlights you will see why he didn't have more then 14 points a game. They had a guard who thought he was great, and they had others a lot like what JT played with who just didn't seem to know to get the ball to them. What impressed me most about him is he guarded the other teams best player from what it seemed and he picked him up full court. Everyone said Smith was highly under ranked, well take the time to watch a few games and see if you Like Greg-E a little more

My bad- I thought class A was their smallest schools but it's their largest. I guess the highlights I saw were just against short teams

Slightly off topic, but this has always been a thing with me. I went to HS in Wisconsin and there 1A is the highest class, then 2A and so on and that always made so much more sense to me. If the classes get bigger as you go up in numbers I feel like you have to already know how many classes a state has to know just how good the competition is. If 1A is the highest you don't need to know if a state has 2 or 8 classes to know it's the best. However if it goes the other way and you hear a school is 3A is 3 the highest or do they have 7 classes? Just seems easier to me.

The Sioux nation did back the Fighting Sioux name as a whole. A gentleman, term used lightly if you look him up, built a hockey stadium that could be an NHL stadium. He said as long as he was alive the name would be Fighting Sioux. It was only a couple of years after his death that the PC police got the name changed to Sioux. I am not sure when it got changed to Fighting Hawks. Personally, I don't see why Illinois buckled on the Chief and FSU gets to keep Seminole nation with the tomahawk chop. When will a small group of Irish start to scream about Notre Dame? How far will PC go? Maybe all nicknames should be banned. OK just kidding on the banning.

I get what youre saying. Makes sense. It gets even more complicated in states like Tennessee where they completely separate public and private for state playoffs. Public has their divisions and there is a big and small class for private as well.

But two is bigger than 1, and smaller than three :D

I get your point, but as an Illnoisian, I'm just used to the higher the number the bigger the school/class.

Back on topic, he is a high ceiling recruit it appears. One we will be happ with as a junior and senior.

Michigan uses A, B, C, D for hoops with A being the biggest school. Jesuit played a tough schedule versus big school's, but probably not the best in the state. One Cassius Winston went to Jesuit, so it's high level ball.

I think that's what Piper or someone said on Tay and J, looked like Wash St lean but Illini staff was seeing if he had any interest in here

Good news for Cam. Smart kid did what he could to make sure common sense won out. With that being said, I hate North Carolina.

Only big looks to be 6'7" Kyle Young, but he is from Ohio, so if he asks out of NLI I would guess he'd end up at tOSU.

They gave him one already during his unofficial visit. He has two years of eligibility which should be plenty of time to go from Masters to PhD to Professor Emeritus in the African American Studies program.

Anything new, no. He visited Washington State on Wed this week. Our staff made contact with him to gauge interest I believe, not sure what came of it. Assume Wash State is where he'll go at this point.

And now, we can't even pitch Illini Inn or Second Story to kids. Our recruiting is going to take a major hit :(.

more playing time is a good thing. to me, this is a rebuilding/foundation year with the system - get the kids time, experience in the system...anything else is gravy.
