Sierra is pretty fun to watch. And Pham is doing well too. Too bad they are probably going back down when Martinez and Piscotty come back. Maybe keep Pham up for Martinez?

I believe we still are carrying 8 bullpen guys too. So one of them could go as well. But if Sierra is not playing everyday or every couple of days he would be better off in the minors. He's still too young to just sit on the bench and collect dust.

Last 10: Sierra starts 8-0 Sierra sits 0-2

Granted, the first loss was before he was up, I think.

But, 8-0 in games he starts.
I KNOW he hasn't offensively factored in to every win (although he has to at least a few), but in the immortal words of Crash Davis...

"You never **** (mess) with a winning streak."

Do not sit Sierra down, until we stop winning with Sierra. And DEFINITELY do not SEND Sierra down, while we are winning with Sierra, for God sake man!

Joy Peralta is back. I'm surprised Matheny didn't start him.

Sierra has been sent to AA Springfield. Still a "promotion" of sorts, since he was brought up to the Cardinals from High-A.

Speaking of Springfield, Stephen Piscotty is on rehab with that team all of this week.

Hammonds Field in Springfield is a terrific stadium. Good chance to see some big club players in the Ozarks.

Matt Adams has been trade bait for a couple years now. Is that really all we could get for him?

Also, who is Matt Carpenter's backup now? Piscotty?

The depth chart on the official Cardinals website shows Carpenter, Gyorko, and Peralta at first base.

Garcia can play anywhere in the infield.

Really tough next few weeks.

@LAD
@COL
vsLAD
@CHC

And no off day until mid June. We are going to learn a lot about this team over the next 3 weeks.

Yep. A tough stretch, all right. And the next off-day, June 12, is followed the next day by a double header against the Brewers.

I still have no idea what Mo was thinking that off-season though. Yeah we missed out on David Price, but instead of matching or besting the Cubs offer to Lackey (2 years/$32 million), he gives Mike Leake a 5 year deal with a full no trade clause. Still befuddles me.

Not afraid to eat crow and admit I was wrong. Guess that's why Mo gets paid the big bucks. Think I was just soured on Leake because he threw some stinkers in games I went to in person last season.

This team is pretty terrible. And something I noticed a couple games ago I got to see in person tonight, Fowler really just dogs it out in the field. Blackmans triple and Arenados double he just slowly jogged after the ball.

DeJong bomb in his first AB!

Sierra and DeJong could very well be at the core of this team in 2 or 3 years. Maybe even next year for DeJong considering Peralta is probably done after this season and Gyorko isn't the long term answer at 3B.

DeJong is the 9th Cardinal to hit a home run in his first major league at bat, and the first since Mark Worrell in 2008. He is the 20th in major league history to do it as a pinch hitter.

Cardinals activate Jose Martinez from the DL and send Randal Grichuk down to Class A Palm Beach.

By sending Grichuk down, they're hoping to get him a lot of ABs on the back fields and the biggest thing they're saying they want him to work on during this demotion is strike zone management.

Need Sierra back up asap for that speed.
