Im not sure what to make of the trade. I do think its going to open up opportunities for the younger guys to play in the outfield. I think some of Pham's comments from early in spring training might have agitated the front office to make this move for more long term stability.

Just show's their committed to O'Neil and Bader (once Fowler is dumped before waiver wire or in the off season). Pham is also on the wrong side of 30, with a degenerative eye disease, so maybe now was the right time to move on from him. The contentious contract talks in the off season probably didn't help, but he's under a collective bargaining agreement, there's only so much Pham can expect.

Williams sounded like a swing change guy who they could remake after the trade, ala Tyler O'Neil last year. Cabrera is a lefty pitcher who's having an OK year in AA and a plus fastball, bullpen floor at least. The other guy is only 19 so who knows. At least it's interesting pieces and most importantly, gets Tyler O'Neil 2 months of consistent MLB at bats.

Awesome win today! Showed some toughness and fight. I like the new look and feel of this squad, hopefully they can get hot and make a run 👍

Well the pitch was ball 4. It was clearly outside.

Yea it was 1.1 inches off the plate. The angst should be focused on the offensive players who couldn't score a run in the first 8 innings against Wei-Yen freaking Chen and the cavalcade of garbage Miami bullpen pitchers.

Ross added to the active roster. Looks like they'll use him as a long man and insurance in case one of their young starters doesn't go deep in a game.

Brebbia sent down to Memphis.

Luke Weaver scratched from today's start after cutting his finger opening the aluminum foil lid on his food during last night's game. Super glue was applied to the cut but it had still not healed to the point where he could pitch today.

Tyson Ross set to start in Weaver's place.

What a random fluke thing to happen. I guess this is why we have Ross. It pitched serviably well, no complaints. Less see if we can finish off this game. currently 5.5 back. It would be nice to shrink that gap.

Best thing is they are right there in wild card race. They play most of those coming up. They really do control there own destiny.

The bats are hotttttt! Games left against teams in contention.

Brewers - 6
Dodgers-7
Nats - 7
Braves - 3
Pirates - 6
Cubs - 3
Rockies - 3

Tough schedule but if they make the playoffs, they've earned it.

Next two and a half weeks, they'll face only .500+ teams. They've got the Nats for 4 and the Brewers for 3 at home this week. They then travel to the Dodgers and Rockies for 3 games apiece before hosting the Pirates for 3 games.

The only series they have left with sub .500 teams are 3 separate 3 game weekend series, 2 of which will be at home. Starting with 3 games vs. the Reds on Labor Day weekend. They then play at Detroit the following weekend. And then host the fading Giants for 3 games at home the next to last weekend of the regular season.

We will certainly know what this team is made of by the end of this stretch. Im happy with the way they have fought. Shows a ton of guts. The young guys are filling in nicely and the vets are playing solid. Its fun baseball right now for sure.

That walk-off was nuts. My emotional swing was crazy from being down by 2, then the double play by DeJong to finish the top of the 8th and then Jed's homer. I erupted when Carp knocked it out, the mood was sky-high to utterly collapsing with Bud Norris collapsing to swinging back high with Hudson, the rookie, ripping a strike three to finish the top of the 9th. And then there was Pauly....man, it was a huge relief to see that ball clear the fence. What a game. It felt like October.
