Getting beat on your home floor makes a statement....you are not good enough..........yet. Learn. What needs to get better is blatantly obvious....turnovers!!! Trent played his tail off but he needs help. Plummer and Kofi with 10 turnovers....team with 16. CoHawk with nothing much to add.
But the positives are becoming consistent. Need to create good habits and chuck to turnovers. Need to remember this game was played without two projected starters who we hope become big plus contributors. Hutch is our Mathurin and Curbelo is the heartbeat....or at least he can be if only....
So back to work with more confidence that there is a summit to reach....just have to learn how to compete in the thin air at the top....and this Illini team can do that.
Game was played at a frantic pace which was a good experience. But to go at that pace, at which so many elite teams play, more depth is required. Let's hope it is on the way soon.
Overall, this game was a plus in some ways and means nothing in achieving season goals. No such thing as a good loss but there is such a thing as a good learning experience. IMHO, the missing ingredient is confidence and experience. The light needs to turn on for CoHawk. Hutch and AC need to play. The big guns are there....but as any artilleryman knows...they need time to be calibrated and registered!! Can't wait for the B1G battles to start!
